“Just a moment ago, my morning had been good.”
I looked at my twin brother, who had appeared beside me.
It wasn't difficult to read his emotions, at least while we were on campus. This was where he was most easily upset.
“And now these motherfuckers show up.”
I turned to look back at the Ruisangors, and my stomach began to tingle strangely as my eyes settled on Miles once more. An intense feeling that I had never experienced like this before the winter ball.
No matter how good Larissa looked again or how elegantly the other two Ruisangors were dressed, Miles was like a magnet. And I hated it.
Why were the gods punishing me with this test? What had I done to deserve this?
“What the...” Hunter blurted out, standing directly behind me and Nash, and I tore my attention away from Miles, letting my gaze wander across the parking lot.
Slow Rock

A literal convoy of black Audis made its way across the slush-covered asphalt and pulled up alongside the BMW parked in the middle of the busy parking lot.
There were at least seven vehicles. Expensive vehicles that not every Blairville resident could afford.
As soon as they had parked, the occupants dressed elegantly in black got out, and my jaw dropped when the cold Blairville wind carried the strong smell into my nose.
“They've got to be kidding me...” Nash muttered, and out of the corner of my eye, I saw him clench his fists.
“I thought there were only four of them,” someone muttered darkly, stepping beside me.
Mica.
His eyes glowed yellow, but he was lucky that no one was paying attention to him, because everyone on campus had stopped only to look at the Ruisangors, who had, once again, appeared out of nowhere.
Just like Jenny Bexley, who was stomping across the lawn with Penny in tow, nearly breaking the heels of her shoes just to reach the group of Ruisangors.
If only she would realize they were staring at her as if she were their next potential meal...
The one thing stopping them from tearing this naive human girl to pieces was the rules. Our rules.
The Ruisangors all wore the black Vanderwood uniform, some combined with their own elegant luxury clothing, making them clearly identifiable as a group. And there was something else. All of them had something on their uniforms. An embroidered crest. And it was certainly not the Vanderwood crest.
“That's how it used to be, actually,” my brother murmured, and I saw more guys from the pack gathering next to him.
“Do you think Alarik knows about this?” Hunter asked, and Nash's expression darkened.
“He must...” I whispered, still confused by my feelings and the appearance of the Ruisangors.
“The question is whether Harlow knows anything about it,” Cody laughed with concern in his voice, and my gaze fell back to the gold-embroidered crests with the black rose in the center.
Harlow would certainly not make an exception for these people.
My brother didn't seem to be able to deal with it either.
“There will be consequences,” he growled beside me.
Suddenly, Bayla pushed herself between him and me, which was unusual because normally she would have been with the Quatura.
They were currently standing under the huge white Victorian wooden pavilion on the campus lawn, staring at our enemies with the same disbelief as us.
