Kieran stumbled backward, his hands clenched into fists. His frightened expression turned into a devastating glare.

“This never happened!” he hissed in a menacingly deep voice.

Then he spun around and disappeared into the thicket.

“Larissa!”

A shadow shot past me.

I ran my fingers through my hair in embarrassment, hastily wiping Kieran's far too sweet blood from my lips.

My stomach growled. I was thirsty. I wanted more.

Tristan appeared in front of me, rushed toward me, and grabbed me by the shoulders, his red-glowing eyes searching.

He seemed confused, concerned...

“What happened?” he asked calmly, though his jaw was clenched.

Good question. What had just happened? What had that Senseque done to me? What had come over me?

Overwhelmed, I ran my fingers through my hair again and stepped back to collect myself.

Oh, hey Dad, the grumpy biker werewolf who apparently lives somewhere in these woods just gave my boobs a little squeeze. You know, nothing unusual.

Dad? No. He wasn't my Dad. I hadn't even accepted that this man was my father.

“Nothing, I...” I stammered.

I was confused. More than usual. My blood was rushing, filled with adrenaline.

The taste of my own blood filled my lips, but I sucked on them, sucking the blood away, causing Tristan's gaze to wander to my lips.

“Are you okay?” he asked, stepping closer.

This time, I didn't back away, even though I realized that Tristan had followed me, which triggered anger and confusion inside me.

“I'm fine,” I replied sharply, but immediately felt bad because I could still see concern in his eyes.

“What the hell are you doing in these woods?” he exclaimed louder this time, looking around as if monsters were lurking somewhere. But we were the monsters.

“What are you doing here?” I finally dared to ask.

“Olivia warned me that Miles drove you to that stupid party.”

“I asked Miles to come with me to that party,” I quickly clarified.

Miles didn’t need any more trouble with this man.

“It’s okay,” he finally said before starting to push me through the woods. “I just want you to get out of here.” He looked around in all directions, his red-glowing eyes full of paranoia. “It's not safe for you here.”

Safe?

I wanted to turn to him, tell him not to play my father, that I didn't need a father, but something stopped me. Not the fact that he had run through this forest to find me, but the concern that still lingered in his eyes.
