“I don’t know what you mean.”
“You literally flexed when you got out of the truck.”
I scoffed. “I simply opened a door.”
“Very aggressively.”
I held out my hand. “Ready?”
“For what exactly? You’ve not told me what we’re doing.”
“Date part one.”
Suspicion entered her face. “You divided the date into parts?”
“Yes.”
“How many?”
“That information is confidential.”
“We’re starting over with truth, remember?”
“That applies to identity and relationship matters, not itinerary surprises.”
She laughed. “You found a loophole quickly.” She took my hand. “Fine. Lead on.”
I drove us to the northern edge of pack land, where an old service road ended near the base of the ridge.
Sloane looked out the windshield. “I’ve never been here.”
“Most humans haven’t.”
She glanced at me. “Should that concern me?”
“No.”
We got out. The trail entrance was marked only by a small stone cairn and a symbol cut into an oak.
Sloane examined it. “What is this?”
“The start of a pack run location.”
Her attention moved toward the path. “The run where everyone shifts?”
“Yes.”
She looked at my clothes. “Are you shifting?”
“No.”
Her eyebrows rose.
“We’re doing it in human form.”
“We’re running the wolf trail?”
“Yes.”
