Fuck me.
He waited a couple of seconds, catching his breath, then raised his head to glance down at me. ‘You are amazing,’ he said and kissed my lips again, before pulling me in tight for a hug.
Chapter Twenty
I woke to the sound of rain battering off my mum’s front window and realised I was still sprawled on the sofa, absolutely stark bollock naked. Shit! My skin peeled off the leather as I sat up, clocking Jamie at the other end, still dead to the world.
I nudged him. ‘Jamie. Jamie, wake up,’ I whispered.
He groaned, dragged himself upright, then broke into a sleepy grin. ‘Morning.’
I flushed, yanking the silvery white reindeer throw over my chest.
‘Bit late for that, darling,’ he said, his voice croaky, leaning over to peck my cheek.
‘My mum and dad!’ I hissed. ‘What time is it?’
He checked his watch. ‘Half five, Harri. Calm down.’ He swung his legs down, rubbing his face. There was something annoyingly attractive about him this early in the morning. The bed hair. The scruff. Or maybe the fact that I now knew he was packing a dick the size of a Viennetta.
‘Jamie! You need to go,’ I whispered, pushing him upright.
He started laughing. ‘Right, I’m going, I’m going. Fuck sake,’ he said, climbing to his feet.
Jesus. Even soft, it was still . . . not small. ‘Do you like him?’ he asked, as he caught me staring.
I felt my face heat. ‘What – him?’ I laughed. ‘Is he a separate person now? Does he have a name? A birth certificate?’
Jamie shrugged, pulling on his boxers and joggers. ‘You can give him a name, if you want.’
I snorted. ‘No. What? For fuck sake, you need to leave.’
He grabbed his keys. ‘I’ll see you at the community centre later, eh?’
I nodded. ‘Yeah.’
‘And maybe I can make you dinner after?’ he added, like he wasn’t getting evicted from my mum’s gaff at 5 a.m.
Fuck. This wasn’t a thing. It couldn’t be. I was married. My life was a mess. I couldn’t be a famous influencer one minute and then shacking up with Shellsuit Boab the next.
‘I’m not sure. I think my mum might have plans, but I’ll check.’
‘All right,’ he said, grinning. ‘Last night was fun.’ His eyes dipped to my chest. ‘They’re belters, by the way.’
I pulled the throw higher. ‘Thanks.’
He slipped out, easing the door shut behind him.
I collapsed back onto the sofa with my hands clasped over my face. Jesus. What the hell was that? I shouldn’t have done it. But Rupert was off living his best life in London, so why couldn’t I have a bit of fun? No strings. Just like Adam, just like Joe. Easy. I knew the ultimate goal here was to get my old life back and that this was just a moment of fun to pass my time. Yes. I relaxed back into the sofa, immediately thinking of how intense my orgasm had been with Jamie. My brain had already hit replay like it was on Netflix. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the show on repeat.
A few hours later, I heard someone thundering down the stairs. My eyes pinged open.
I was still in my birthday suit. Shit. I bolted upright, no idea where my underwear – or any of my clothes – had gone, and hastily wrapped the throw around me like some sort of tragic toga.
The living room door flew open, and my mum jumped when she saw me sitting there, dishevelled and clutching her good Home Bargains throw like I’d just been rescued from the sea.
‘Jesus, Harri! What are you doing?’ She clutched her chest as if the sight of her shipwrecked daughter had aged her ten years.
‘I’m just up,’ I said quickly. ‘Came down for a drink, heard someone coming, so I shoved this on.’ I gestured to the throw like, obviously.
