Their Rejected Queen

“Did you reject him, little queen?” he softly asks. There’s no judgment in his tone.

“Hmm,” I hum in response, unable to muster anything else.

Arwan considers me for a moment but doesn’t seem to take the new information too seriously as he turns back to the Alpha. “Whatever you broke, you need to fix it. She chose us for a reason, and it’s best we let her lead. I’m trying to actually keep her alive. Think less with your knot and more with your head, you fucking brute.”

Godric just glowers at him, but he doesn’t disagree.

“Your wolf is used to participating in pack culture,” Arwan continues as he softens his tone, “but you haven’t accepted me in the potential position of the triad. Given your… hindrances, Ze’ev and I could offer you a chance to mate her without killing us all.”

I wonder if Arwan is playing a long game or if that’s actually true.

Plus, what does he mean by fix it?

“Ze’ev will kill you before I do,” Godric says with a huff. He begins to pace back and forth, keeping his eye on the royal like a predator evaluating his prey.

Except, Arwan is no prey.

“Then Liliana will die. Her life is linked to mine.”

Godric flinches, then relaxes. “Right. I forgot that pesky little detail.”

“So, an alliance?” Arwan proposes as he tilts his head and beams a charming smile at the pack master. “Fix what you broke. Summon Ze’ev. Liliana gives him my truce gift, and then I’ll abide by the law of clan vengeance and we’ll be a merry little triad for the games.”

Godric shoots up a brow. “You’d put your life in his hands? You do realize he lost his mind many years ago. He’ll tear you limb from limb.” He crosses his broad arms, making the muscles bulge. “Not that I’d mind watching that.”

Tired of these males talking about me like I’m not even here, I force myself to sit up as I wrap the blankets tightly around my chest.

I find that the object Arwan had given me is now secured around my wrist. It’s a delicate silver bracelet with a crescent moon charm that houses a diamond in its curve. I run my fingernail over it as I admire the craftsmanship.

Both men regard me with curious expressions as they fall silent.

Clearing my throat, I try not to curl into a ball and die under their scrutiny.

Both of them are so powerful.

So freaking gorgeous.

And I want to squeeze between them like a sex sandwich.

Focus, I chide myself.

“I need to save my sister,” I say, waiting until both men nod to show they’re listening. “That means winning the games, yes?”

I’ve never said my mission aloud, but it’s time that I brought both of them in on it. Especially if they plan on helping me.

Godric regards me steadily, as if he knew there had been something driving me, but it’s not what he had expected.

“Your sister,” he repeats.

I nod. “I know she’s here. She was sold when I was an infant.”

I don’t mention that we’re twins, and because of that, I’ve always felt a connection to Monster Isle that I can’t explain.

There has always been an itch I couldn’t quite scratch. A yearning that drove me to survive even when it felt like everyone was against me and there was no hope at all.

There was always her.

My sister had become something more of an ideal, a dream.
