When I moved my mouth beneath her ear, she tipped her head for me without being asked. I kissed the warm skin there, then dragged my beard slowly down her neck.
Her breath caught.
I did it again.
Sybil pressed closer, and her hips brushed the hard length of my cock.
A low sound slipped from her.
I wanted to hear it again.
Instead, I lifted my head and looked at her.
There was color across her cheeks now. Her hair had fallen farther loose, soft strands catching against my wrist. She looked aroused, tired, curious, and completely awake.
My hands settled at her hips.
“You told me earlier that you spend your whole life being responsible for what happens next.”
She nodded, waiting.
“What would happen if you didn’t have to for a little while?”
For once, Sybil didn’t answer immediately. Her fingers traced slowly over my side beneath the flannel while she considered it.
“I don’t know.”
I bent and kissed the corner of her mouth. “Then tell me what you do know. What do you want from me?”
Her hand flattened over my ribs. “I want you to take control for a while. Here. Not tomorrow at Hollowfield, and not because you’re my bodyguard.”
“Good. Because this doesn’t buy me obedience when we walk back onto the farm.”
Her mouth curved. “I wasn’t planning to give you any.”
The answer went straight through me, but I kept my hands at her hips. “What don’t you want?”
She took a moment before answering. “Nothing meant to hurt. Nothing around my throat. And don’t make what happened tonight part of it.”
“I won’t.” I brushed my thumb along her side. “I want your wrists in my hand. I want to tell you where to put them and have you choose to stay there. If you want more than that, we can find out together. Maybe even cover your mouth for a little while.”
Her breath caught. “You mean gag me?”
“Only if you want it.”
She held my gaze. “I’ve never tried that.”
“Then we don’t have to decide now. If anything stops feeling good, you say red and I stop. If your mouth is covered, tap me three times anywhere you can reach.”
“Red,” she said, testing the word.
“That’s it.”
Sybil reached for my forearm and tapped three times. I took both hands off her immediately and stepped back half a pace.
Her brows lifted.
“Every time,” I said.
