I flick his cheek. “Yes, us.”
“Fine, later.” He rolls us over, back on top of me. He enjoys feeling me under him, hips cradling his. “Right now, I only want more of you. Not our families, not the danger outside these walls. Just you.”
I grin as his lips fall to mine again.

BRIAR
As the door opens, a hand flies at my face. I barely have time to duck, grab the wrist, and swing Sloane back into the foyer without breaking her nails. Valentina is behind me, looking over my shoulder at my seething older sister, eyes wide.
Sloane’s cheeks are bright red, the green in her eyes flickering like a living flame.
Oh, she’s pissed.
“Briar Ferguson O’Brien, you got married?”
Wincing, I ease the door closed, keeping Valentina protected. The guards stand there, useless. Wonderful henchmen my sister has here.
“I don’t like how I’m being attacked in my family’s house.”
“Our family’s house, dick,” she rages, stepping close. She might be in designer spiked heels and a tight red dress, but I’ve seen her run from paparazzi in more revealing clothing. She can certainly bring me down in this.
Lex walks down the hall, rolling up his sleeves. Scars dot his arms, but his gloves still cover the worst of his hands. His red shirt matches my sister’s dress—did they plan that?—and he’s in a pair of dress slacks.
The man doesn’t own jeans.
“Can you control your wife, please?” I ask, directing Valentina further into the foyer. “I’m being assaulted.”
Lex shrugs, kissing her head. Like a mellowed cat, she closes her eyes, enjoying the intimacy, before she turns her glare onto me again.
“I don’t control my wife,” he says simply. “And she has every right to kill you. You got married.”
“Like two days ago,” I defend. “And, if you’re splitting hairs, I wasn’t invited to yours either.”
“You technically watched over the cameras,” Hayes adds unhelpfully, descending the stairs. Collins is on his heels, frowning at me.
Great. She’s pissed at me too.
Sloane curls her lip. “You did?”
“Thanks for that, jerk,” I growl.
“I can’t believe you got married—”
“And without us—” Collins chimes in, arms crossed. She’s in a pair of sweats; she must’ve just gotten off her shift.
“I should—”
“You didn’t even ask—”
“We could’ve had a bridal shower—”
“Hayes,” Valentina whispers, stopping beside me.
My eyes cut to her. Shit.
It was my choice to come over to the mansion today. I stayed away to derail hitmen from finding me and attacking my family, but the tables were turning. No longer could I hide in the shadows—it was time to go on the offensive. It was easier to do that as a group than alone.
