My body rocked and my mind blown.
Once we’d gotten started, it seemed neither of us had been able to get enough.
Movement echoed from out in the main part of my apartment. It might as well have been a snare because I couldn’t do anything but toss off the covers and sit up on the side of the bed.
I winced a little. Sore. Every muscle in my body felt like I’d run a marathon. Perfectly wrung out.
My shoulders rose up to touch my ears when I realized I was dressed in nothing but one of Trevan’s white tees. A tee I swam in and had to be the coziest thing I’d ever worn.
I tiptoed into the bathroom and used it, washed my hands and brushed my teeth, glanced at the mess that was my hair and the redness that continued to splash my cheeks.
I released the tiniest, subdued squeal because I still couldn’t believe it.
Trevan and I had promised ourselves to one another.
Given ourselves.
Were one.
My spirit flailed and leapt, and I turned and crept from my room and down the hall.
A cabinet shut and dishes clattered, all while my heart skittered and pranced.
A bit of shyness worked its way to the surface because I wasn’t exactly sure how I was supposed to act after what had happened last night.
I edged out of the hall to where the living space met the kitchen.
Trevan was there, wearing only sweats, his bare back that bristled with all that strength on full display where he stood facing out at the sink.
A mountain in the middle of the room.
He must have felt me staring because he shifted around. Affection and greed lit in those espresso eyes.
“Good morning,” I peeped as I popped up onto my toes.
God, why was I feeling timid?
“Best morning I’ve ever had,” he grumbled, his gaze a slow slide that gobbled me up.
I glowed, shifted on my feet.
“Get over here,” he commanded in his coarse voice, and a swell of euphoria took me over as I shuffled around the small island.
He took one step forward to meet me, and I was off my feet before I realized what was happening. He squeezed me against his powerful chest.
Making me quake as he sat my bum on the edge of the island.
Redness flew. The exultant, fluttery kind. It sped nearly as fast as my heart.
Trevan edged back, though he kept his hands planted on the tops of my thighs.
I couldn’t help the joy that sparked in my smile. “I guess it really is the best kind of morning.”
Tenderness tweaked his smile, that mouth that could do such wicked things. He reached out a big, tattooed hand and brushed back a lock of hair that fell across my cheek and tucked it behind my ear.
Sincerity filled his rough, unforgettable features. “Getting up and knowing that you’re mine? Yeah. Best kind there is.”
“The night was pretty good, too,” I whispered, peeking up at him.
