Cameron hauled her farther up his lap so their bodies were pressed tightly together. His kiss made her dizzy with excitement and the dull ache in her belly intensified to unbearable proportions. They say you can tell what a man is like in bed from his kiss. So this guy is clearly amazing in that department. The thought of going to bed with Cameron would’ve caused her to fall off his lap had he not been holding her so tightly.
Cam entwined his fingers into her hair and gently pulled her head back to kiss her neck. Heat coursed over her skin as he grazed his lips lower, tugging the straps from her shoulder as he ran his mouth over her collarbone. A noise from an adjacent balcony caused him to lift his head. “Perhaps we’d better take this inside.”
Nina tried to answer him, but she’d lost the power of speech. She nodded. Cameron stood, still holding her against him with her legs wrapped around his waist. Nina kissed him as he walked them into the bedroom, and he smiled against her mouth.
“What’s that smile for?” she murmured.
He laid them both onto the bed. “This is exactly like my dream,” he said, still smiling.
She raised her eyebrow. “Oh yeah? And what happened next?”
He trailed his fingers along her cheek. “I’ll show you.”
Fireworks exploded in Nina’s brain and she grasped his shirt to pull him in again. The urgency in their kiss grew with each passing second, and even though he was right there on top of her, she still couldn’t get him close enough. He ran his hand agonisingly slowly down her body, then began to undo her shorts. Nina felt like she was going to melt a hole in the bed. “Cam,” she whispered.
He grazed his lips against her ear. “Is this okay?”
“God, yes,” she breathed.
Cam flashed her his gorgeous smile, and it sent her heart rate spiralling. He slipped his hand in between her legs and started teasing her with his fingers, amplifying the fire inside her with each stroke. Nina kept her eyes on his, mesmerised by the intensity in his hazel gaze. He seemed to study every moan she emitted, clearly working out what drove her wild.
Nina lifted her hand to his face. Was this really happening or was she the one dreaming? She’d wanted nothing more than to find herself in this position, and yet the roadblocks to that fantasy had seemed insurmountable only a couple of hours before. A tiny voice at the back of her mind told her that even though it was now reality, that didn’t mean it was real. Holiday romances never are.
Cameron’s movements started to create an unstoppable crescendo and her desire swept away the doubt. She gasped and he caught her breath with his mouth, kissing her deeply as her climax began to roll along his fingers. She arched her back to bring his touch deeper still, clinging to him as wave after wave of ecstasy engulfed her.
Cameron held her tightly as her breathing slowly steadied. “This is even better than my dream,” he murmured.
Nina sighed. “This is better than any dream I’ve ever had—or any reality, for that matter.”
He lifted his head to meet her eyes, smiling. He leaned down to kiss her and she ran her tongue along his lower lip, biting it gently and enjoying the resulting change in his breathing. She grinned and flipped him onto his back, enjoying his surprised expression as she ran her hand under his T-shirt then slipped down his shorts and underwear.
“Nina,” he said. “I haven’t got any protection. We don’t have to—” His words turned into a groan as she took him into her mouth. He reached up and grabbed the bedrail tightly, his breathing becoming laboured as she teased him with her lips and tongue. “Don’t stop.”
The fact that she could make him lose control drove her crazy. She stimulated him with her mouth, revelling in every moan he made until she sensed that he was close. She had an overwhelming urge to look into his eyes as he climaxed, so she moved up his body, taking him in her hand to continue his pleasure. He reached out to hold her face as he breathed her name, his body shuddering with force of his orgasm. He pulled her in close, taking shallow breaths against her hair.
Nina breathed his scent and the now-familiar feeling of excitement and soothing that it created within her. He was the perfect contradiction. He exhilarated and also pacified her. He was sweet, kind and caring but also dangerously sexy. Her heart thudded as she came to realise that what she felt for him comprised of so much more than lust, and there was no way that this could end happily for her. She was in real risk of falling for him when he didn’t return her feelings with the same depth, and she wasn’t sure her heart could cope with the fallout.
Cam lifted his head and looked into her eyes. He frowned. “What is it?”
She studied him, unable to fathom how he could read her so well. “I think we need to put the brakes on this.”
He nodded, self-doubt in his eyes.
“Wait,” she said. “Don’t jump to the wrong conclusion. I want more. I really do. But I don’t think it’s a good idea, because I’m leaving imminently for the UK and you’ll be jetting back to LA. It’s probably for the best that we don’t let this go any further.”
He glanced down briefly, appearing conflicted. “I understand.”
Reluctantly Nina extricated herself, climbed off him and did her shorts back up.
Cameron pulled his clothing back into place, not meeting her eyes.
“I’m sorry,” she said. “I hope I haven’t upset you. I just feel like we’re from different worlds.”
He brought his gaze to meet hers, giving her a smile. “You mean because I’m Scottish and you’re English? Yeah, that puts me off too.”
She smiled back. “Careful, Wild.”
He sat up and sighed. “I’d better go. The last few days have been eventful, and I think I need to crash out.”
