He moved to Nina and refreshed her cup. “Do you guys need some time alone?”
“That’s okay,” Isla said. “I’m pretty sure you’re an expert on this subject after Ash’s involvement with him.”
Cam sat next to Nina with his own mug and took a sip. “Unfortunately, yes.”
Isla looked at Nina. “I’m sorry I didn’t listen to you.”
Nina squeezed her hand. “No need to be sorry. He’s the one who should be.”
Isla sipped her coffee. “I’m a bigger mug than this one,” she said, gesturing to her cup. “He was clearly using me, and at first I kidded myself I was just using him too, but I actually did like him.” She rolled her eyes.
“What can we do to help?” said Nina.
Isla huffed out her breath. “Knee him in the balls the next time you see him?”
Nina laughed then waggled her hand to and fro as if she were weighing up the decision.
Isla smiled, lifting a tissue from the box and dabbing her eyes.
Cam set his mug down. “I’ve got an idea.”
“What?” Isla asked.
“Let’s go out for breakfast,” he said. “I know a great place in Ibiza Town.”
“You’ve got a good spread here,” said Isla.
“Nah,” he said, standing. “This place does the best huevos rancheros you’ve ever tasted.”
Isla’s eyes lit up. “Awesome. Food always helps heal a broken heart.”
Nina grinned. “Hear, hear.” She got to her feet, catching Cam’s eye and wondering what he’d wanted to ask her just before Isla had arrived.

Nina had thought it clever of her to volunteer to sit in the back of the Jeep so that she wasn’t next to Cameron, but she kept inadvertently meeting his eyes in the rear-view mirror, and it was doing terrible things to her insides. She took a deep breath and had a stern word with herself then lifted out her phone and pressed send on the application portal where she’d had her CV ready and waiting to apply for Matt’s job.
Cam parked outside a café in Ibiza Town, and they climbed out of the Jeep. Isla seemed to have perked up already and Nina hoped that meant her dalliance with Zac hadn’t run too deeply and she’d soon be over him.
Isla studied the full tables outside the café. “It must be good because it’s packed.”
Cameron gestured toward the door. “Let’s see if there’s a table free inside.”
They followed him in and he started conversing with the maître d’ in Spanish. Nina sighed. Of course he spoke Spanish. The guy was just too brilliant for words. She cast her eye over the tables. It was a mixed crowd—young couples, tables of friends, older couples and some families. Something for everyone. She did a double take as she scanned past a beautiful blonde woman who she recognised. Nina craned her neck at Ash before realising that the person sat opposite her was not Aubrey, but was in fact Zac, the douchebag. They were holding hands across the table.
Nina’s mouth went dry and her heart rate picked up pace. She glanced back at Cam and Isla. Neither of them had spotted the couple yet but the both of them were no doubt going to be devastated once they did. She looked back towards the doorway. Could she make some sort of excuse about feeling unwell in order to get them to leave?
Cam nudged her. “They’re just clearing a table for us.” He frowned. “What’s the matter?”
She stared at him, not knowing what to say.
He touched her arm. “Nina? What is it?”
He lifted his gaze over her shoulder and she squeezed her eyes shut for a second, knowing that he’d spot them. She heard his sharp intake of breath and opened her eyes again. He was staring across the room.
She swallowed. “Cam?”
Isla came over from where she’d been studying a menu. “What’s the delay?” She looked in the same direction as Cam. “Holy shit.”
