“Okay?” Isla said.

Nina sat up and stretched. “What time is it?

Isla glanced at her watch. “Five.”

“Five?” Nina said. “What’ve you been doing?”

Isla smiled and leaned back. “Just vibing.”

Vibing? What does that even mean? “Is that a tangible term?” Nina said.

Isla laughed. “Tangible?”

Nina smiled. “Yeah. Did you record anything?”

Isla shook her head. “Not yet. That’s not how this works.”

There were footsteps on the stairs. Nina turned. Cam was coming toward them carrying some bottles of beer. He was topless, and for a moment his toned muscles on display distracted Nina. All that healthy eating and drinking green gunk certainly pays off. She glanced away before he caught her looking.

Cam handed a beer to Isla then one to Nina. He met her gaze as his fingers grazed hers. She quashed the flutter of desire in her belly. The guy was not her type.

Cam sat on the sunbed across from them, next to the still-sleeping Ash. He smiled at Nina. “Sleep off your hangover?”

She flashed him a brief, sarcastic smile then took a swig from her beer.

Ash stirred and took in the three of them. She stretched. “Hey.”

Cam handed her a bottle.

Nina glanced at Isla. “Have you met Ash?”

Isla shot her a look. “Yep.”

Nina raised her eyebrows. Isla clearly wasn’t impressed with Ash.

Ash yawned and took a sip of her beer. “What’re we doing tonight, baby?”

Isla rolled her eyes and Nina dug her in the ribs.

Cam gave Ash a kiss. “I’ve got a set, remember? It’s Friday. Are you coming?”

She smiled. “Of course.”

Nina averted her eyes. Why did witnessing their intimacy feel uncomfortable? She didn’t even know them.

Ash sat straighter. “Are you guys joining us?”

Nina looked at Isla. “I’m not sure.” She was aware Isla had wanted some time to talk.

“Yeah, we are,” said Isla. “We wouldn’t miss Cam’s residency.”

“Great,” Ash smiled. “Nina can try some of those candy shots.”

Isla frowned at Nina. “You hate shots.”

“Shh,” said Nina. She glanced up and inadvertently caught Cam’s eye.

He laughed. “I think Nina should stick to water after that beer.”
