He rubs a hand over his face. “You really love her?”
“More than anything.”
He looks toward the family area.
Delaney is talking to her mom. Even from here, I can see her glancing in our direction.
Declan follows my gaze. “She had a crush on you forever, you know.”
I smile faintly. “Yeah.”
“Drove me fucking crazy.”
“Imagine how I felt.”
He snorts despite himself. Then his expression grows serious. “If you hurt her—”
“You'll kill me. I know.”
“No.”
That surprises me.
Declan looks at me. “If you hurt her, she's going to be the one who has to live with it. And I don't want that for her.”
Neither do I.
“I won't promise we'll never have a fight,” I tell him. “Or that I'll always get everything right. But I'm not going anywhere, Dec.”
He studies me. Then nods once. “I need some time.”
“Take it.”
“And I'm still pissed at you.”
“Figured.”
He glances at the clock on the wall. “We've got a flight to catch.”
“Yeah.”
He starts to walk away. Then stops. “Bish?”
“Yeah?”
“Nice goal.”
I smile. “Thanks.”
“Still should've passed.”
I laugh. “Asshole.”
He grins—just a little. Then heads toward his sister.
I hang back while Declan approaches Delaney. I can't hear everything they say. Don't need to.
She folds her arms when he starts talking.
