Whiskey Burn

by Ava Hunter

In the distance, the musical laughter of our friends and family enjoying the reception lights up the October night.

“No.” I take his face between my palms and smile. “I just need a few moments alone with my husband before we go kill it on the dance floor.”

“You have me, Delilah,” he promises, causing tears to fill my eyes.

I do. I have Cole.

My steady shelter, my protector. He’s given me something I’ve never had before. The freedom to finally breathe. To stay. To make a home.

Tempest is rough around the edges, but so is my cowboy. My cowboy who’s covered in tattoos, eats pussy like it’s his last meal, and worships the ground I walk on. Cole Weston’s a whiskey kiss with a touch of sin. He fights for his ranch, his brothers, and me. He’s breathtaking madness, built from the wild earth on which he was born.

By no means perfect but still mine. I could never quit Cole. We go down together or fight together.

Forever.

“Is this a dream, Cole?” I hold his big, tan hand in mine. Admire the wedding band I had made for him, handcrafted from one of his own whiskey barrels. “Because if it is, I never want to wake up.”

“No, darlin’. It’s as real and true as my love for you.”

“Thank you for this.” I trace a finger along the sharp line of his jaw. Stare into those intense blue eyes.

“For what?”

“For everything.” I smile through my tears. “I love your family. I love this life. But most of all, I love you, cowboy.”

“Baby, you don’t even know what you fucking do to me.” A ragged breath shakes out of him as he grips my hips and squeezes. “You make me crazy, darlin’. Make me love you too damn much.”

His words whip something wild and primal inside of me.

I launch myself at him, devouring his mouth, sliding my fingers possessively through his hair. A blazing flame scorches the space between us. Cole’s breath explodes as he grabs the back of my neck and wrenches me closer.

He wants me. Here. Now.

The music changes from rock ’n roll to a high intensity beat. “I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me).”

An amused breath shakes out of Cole. Tearing his mouth from mine, he lifts his gaze to the speaker. “Christ, Delilah, this playlist?”

“C’mere, cowboy.” My mouth curves. Moving closer to his body, I straddle his rock-hard thigh.

“Baby, if I fuck you now, we’re never going back to the reception…” Even as he protests, his arms come around me, and he backs me up toward the bar.

Smiling, I roll my hips down his body, letting the music guide my movements. Watching as Cole’s eyes turn heavy-lidded, lust-charged. My husband loves to watch me dance, especially when it’s only for him.

“I need you.” I pout, knowing he won’t say no. “You can’t turn your wife down on her wedding day.”

“You make it hard not to.” His big fingers tangle in my hair as he grips the back of my neck. Our mouths meet in a frenzied tangle of breaths and tongues. The rough scrape of his beard against my skin feels like heaven. My hips shift against his, grinding his crotch. He groans, his head tipping back in delicious agony, the taut cords in his neck straining in want.

“Delilah.” My name’s a snap of warning, a starter’s pistol. Cole shoves at my skirts, his mouth heated and frantic against mine.

I’m already falling away, surrendering to my cowboy, lost in his touch.

Lost in our love and everything that comes next.

If there’s one thing I’m going to do, it’s fuck my wife when she demands it.
