“Do you need help to open it?”

“Oh, no. Thank you.” I winked and then pulled out my tablet and cell for work.

During the flight, I was forced to handle more business matters, interrupting any time I’d have with her. Still my eyes started in her direction every five minutes. During the last fifteen minutes of our flight, she fell asleep. I felt terrible that she was sleeping in an awkward position, so I woke her up with a gentle tap on her arm.

When we landed, we were hit with warm weather with a hint of a slight breeze. She twitched her nose several times. “Does something smell funky?”

“No, my nose was itching.”

“Oh. Just making sure you’re okay.”

“I’m perfectly fine.”

“Fine? I want better than fine. I want you to be happy.” She blushed, biting her bottom lip. I took her hand and wrapped mine around it. “Soon.”

The black armored sedan was waiting for us.

“Boss, everything is prepared,” Daniel said, having gone ahead and handled the necessities for the trip.

“Good. Take us to the hotel first. I want Mariana to relax, eat, and change.” She pursed her lips. “What’s that about?”

“Nothing.”

“Little liar.”

“I’m just anxious to see the movie.” I nodded and brought her hand to my lips.

“Relax. I promise time will fly by before you know it.” We entered the hotel and I led her to our room. I opened the door and pressed my hand to the small of her back, stealing touches when I could. She moved forward into the main room where our large bed took up a great deal of room.

The suite had a surprise for her. Laying on our bed was a pale pink dress that I’d asked to be delivered with matching size seven heels. “You need to get dressed properly before we go.”

“What kind of movie are we going to see that I need to wear something so beautiful?”

“This is LA, love.”

“How long do I have to get ready?”

“Two hours.”

“Are you freaking serious? You are taking me somewhere nice, and I have two hours to prepare.”

“You’re gorgeous. What’s the big deal? I’m the only one who should be admiring your beauty.”

“Yes, but you can’t have a wife who looks drab.”

“There’s no way that’s possible.” She rolled her eyes and scoffed before rushing to the bathroom with her dress in hand.

Although Dario wouldn’t be there for tonight’s movie premiere, he’d sent me a message with the VIP movie passes. Business between us had gone well, so this was a special gift.

Chapter Ten

Mariana

“Little rabbit, your lunch is here.” I’d just stepped out of the lovely shower and had wrapped myself in the fluffiest robe. My life should have been like this, but my parents had neglected me. My father was worth five hundred million, and yet I never had the luxuries that I’d had since I married Giovanni.

Giovanni.
