The Mobster’s Rebel

His gaze stayed steady and focused on me. The man was an iron tower, unmovable.

Annoyed with his rude entrance, I lifted my brows and let out a puff of air as I crossed my arms. “I need to get dressed, so you need to leave.”

“I don’t need to go anywhere. I’d love to see you get dressed.” That was the first time his body had betrayed him. The tough wall softened, cracked just for a moment.

I jabbed him in the chest, and damn, it was hard enough to sprain my finger. “We’re not married, so until then, keep your eyes to yourself.”

“I’m not leaving this room, so you can take your clothes and get dressed in the bathroom, or you can dress out here. Either way, it’s fine with me.”

I stomped my foot and then raised my hand to slap his face, but he caught my wrist. “Calm down, my little rabbit.”

“Little rabbit? I have a name.”

“Yes, but you seemed to want to play games with me. My little rabbit ran away from the big bad wolf who wants to devour you.”

I ate the whimper that nearly escaped my throat. Hot or not, he bought me from my wretched father. “What? You don’t trust me? Do you think I’ll run away?”

He scoffed. “You can try. But I let you get away with it for a few hours now. Don’t think you can do it again and succeed.”

“Well, obviously I didn’t succeed this time either.”

“It was a nice attempt, but you were watched from the moment you fled the church.”

“Are you serious?”

“Of course I knew you ran away.”

“Did you intentionally let me escape?” She raised her brow, lips clamped tight.

“No, I just wanted to see what you would do and then who you were with. You escaped with the help of your maid.”

“Oh my God, please tell me you didn’t harm her.”

He scoffed. “I didn’t. Touching women is a no-go. Unless she’s planning on helping you a second time.”

“No, no. I won’t.”

“That’s a good girl.” He brushed his fingers across my jaw. My body nearly went limp, almost losing all ability to stand, but I somehow managed to stay upright, even if I did teeter a bit.

“Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to put clothes on.”

“Pity.” He took a seat on the bed while I took my clothes into the bathroom. I stole one more glance at him. He seemed to have already forgotten about my presence and was scrolling on his phone. His side profile was just as sexy as his front. The sharp angles of his jaw were dangerous to my mind and body.

“Enjoying the view?” he asked, turning his head with a twitch of his stern mouth. Did he have to be so attractive?

I closed the door with a loud bang. Asshole.

A chuckle came from the room. Jerk.

Since I didn’t have any clothes, I had to slip back into the ones I was wearing. My panties were currently drying on the hook. Damn it, I was going to have to go bare.

I stepped out of the bathroom to find my handsome yet dangerous fiancé on the phone, speaking in rapid Italian. I listened in, but it sounded like business matters that had nothing to do with me. While he was talking, I crept by, aiming for the door, but he quickly snagged onto my waist, pulling me into his arms. All the while he hadn’t slowed down his conversation.

He ended the call and then devoted all his attention to me. “You didn’t learn the first time?”

“I don’t want to marry you,” I spat out, kicking my feet, attempting to flail out of his grasp, but that only made him hold tighter.

“Why not?”
