“We won’t be letting anyone take LA from us,” Enzo tells me.

I don’t give a shit about the territory. “I want my wife back, Enzo. That’s my priority,” I shoot back.

“I’m going to tear these cunts to pieces, limb by fuckin’ limb,” Jett fumes from the passenger seat.

Jett is going to be losing it inside; I know that. But I also know when Jett needs to be serious, there ain’t nothing he can’t do. He was trained for these moments in life, and although it’s going to kill him until he finds Tate, he will risk his damn life to save his brother.

“Enzo, send me over the number for Zach, the VP of Twisted Serpents. Levi knew something, but died before he could tell us. Zach might know.”

At this point I’ll fucking try anything. I only know a small portion of the research Enzo pulled together about Zach.

“Sending through now,” he says, keyboard still clacking in the background.

I toss the phone to Jett, and he’s typing the number into his phone.

I’m breaking every motor vehicle law possible, weaving through traffic to make it back to the ranch. Every second I waste, she gets farther away. They’re already in the damn sky.

“Zach ain’t answering,” Jett mutters.

I’ve never seen him this furious. Not even when he came off the back of a bull and ended his bull riding career a few years ago.

“Enzo, I’ll call you back. I need to tell Dom and get everything loaded into the chopper.”

“Okay, I’ll be on standby.”

Jett cuts the call, his second attempt to get Zach on the line, and instead brings up the map, tracking Gianna’s helicopter. “They’re definitely going to LA,” Jett tells me.

I knew it.

I squeeze the steering wheel so hard my knuckles crack. I fuckin’ hate that place. “We’re getting them both back. And we know they can handle business if they need to. It’s going to be fine,” I reassure him, but I’m not sure I believe the words coming out of my mouth.

Gianna is a force to be reckoned with. But I’ve seen what happens in these situations. When you’re taken, you ain’t got the upper hand anymore. You have to fight back, or die trying.

I can’t lose her.

I won’t. That woman has given me a glimpse of a future that I will gladly die for.

I don’t want to live in a world where Gianna doesn’t exist.

The dust clouds behind us as I race down the Sterling Ranch track. Dom and Ace are already storming out of Hunter’s house. Slamming the car to a stop, I’m out and on my feet, beelining for Dom.

One of her brothers has already betrayed her. I don’t trust anyone she’s related to. I grab him by the throat, throwing him against the fence.

Dom stood by and let Gianna take beatings from her dad. Maybe he’s jealous she’s in power and not him.

“Who the fuck took her? And why the fuck are they in your dead brother's chopper?” I seethe, pressing my gun against his cheek.

He squares up to me, pushing his face closer to mine. “You let someone take my sister? You’re her husband; you’re supposed to make sure shit like this doesn’t happen to her. Don’t you dare come in here accusing me of having anything to do with this. Gianna is the only person who has ever fucking accepted and loved me; I’d die to save her.” Anger flashes in his eyes, his nostrils flaring.

I lower my weapon and step back. I needed to see in his damn eyes that he had nothing to do with it.

“Chopper will be here in five!” Hunter calls out. “Any idea who took her in a helicopter heading for LA?”

He runs a hand over his face. “It has to be one of our own.” He tips his head back. “Fuck!”

Jett storms out of Hunter's barn with an armful of weapons, staring up at the sky, waiting. When Jett needs to be serious, he can switch it on, and you don’t fuck with him on a mission.

“Ace is staying here with the girls. I can’t let anything else happen to him in LA,” Hunter tells me as he approaches.
