I see now.
God, he’s fucking ridiculous.
Rolling my eyes, I scoot over to allow him some room to lay down. My body screams at me with every little movement and I let out a hiss. His eyes snap to mine as he’s halfway on the bed.
“Are you in pain?”
I shake my head. “I’m fine.”
He grunts in response, clearly not buying it, as he finally gets his other leg up onto the bed and shifts his hips over with a deep groan.
“Fuck me, this shit hurts.”
“Happy now?” I ask, arching a brow as I shift to my side, gritting my teeth through the pain.
God, we’re pathetic.
It would be hilarious if I wasn’t in so much damn pain.
“Not even a little.”
He mirrors me, rolling onto his side so we’re facing each other before he reaches out and grabs my hand.
“Aren’t we a fucking pair?” I ask, wiping away the last of my tears and he lets out a laugh. Pulling my hand up to his lips, he presses a kiss to my fingers before meeting my eyes.
“Yeah.”
I settle my head into the pillow and arch a brow. “Wanna tell me what this is all about?”
“I needed to be next to you and touching you when I say what I have to say,” he says, threading his blood-crusted fingers through mine. I watch our hands lock together before looking into his blue eyes.
“And what do you need to tell me?”
He sucks in a breath and drops his gaze to our hands. “This is my fault.”
“What is?” I ask as I study him. He licks his lips and swallows hard before taking another deep breath.
“Everything. The fact that you’re in here, the fact that we almost got run off the road…”
My head jerks back and pain radiates through my body.
Fuck.
“What do you mean?”
His teeth sink into his bottom lip and he still won’t meet my eyes. “Raya’s ex, Derek, has been behind all this. Or, at least, I’m pretty damn sure he has…”
“Okay,” I say, watching him. I’m not connecting the dots here. “I don’t really understand, Dalton.”
“He wanted to target the club and me, specifically, for taking Raya from him. He thinks he owns her.”
I tilt my head. “That’s crazy. He doesn’t own her.”
“I know,” he answers, nodding his head. “But that’s how fucked up he is.”
“Okay.” I release a breath. “But what does that have to do with me?”
He finally looks up, meeting my eyes. “Derek wanted to hurt me but he used other people to do it. Owen and Leigh-Ann.”
