“Right before you met me?”
Shit.
Yeah.
The timing does look bad, I won’t lie.
I nod. “Yes, right before I met you.”
She just stares at me, her eyes asking questions that I can’t decipher.
Fuck.
I’m so goddamn bad at this shit.
I wish this was a physical threat.
Those I can handle, no problem, but this…
I’m so out of my fucking depth.
She lets out a groan and yanks her head out of my hands. “I don’t know what to believe.”
Rolling to her side, she pushes up on her hands and knees and begins crawling over to the couch.
No.
No.
No.
All I can see is her walking away from me.
Panic seizes my throat like a fucking fist and I imagine my life before her.
I can’t fucking go back to that.
I can’t lose her.
But how do I make her see?
“I was unwanted,” I blurt out before I even think about it.
Shit.
Why did I say that?
Lennon stops. She doesn’t turn around to face me but she fucking stops and my heart stutters in my chest.
Fuck.
Fuck.
Fuck.
“My parents… they never wanted to have kids… but then they got pregnant with me.” My chest fucking aches and my mind is a hurricane of memories. It’s fucking agony and I’ve never told another soul these things but there is no way to hold them back now. “By the time they went to the clinic to get an abortion, my mother was too far along so they were forced to have me.”
She takes a ragged breath but she still doesn’t turn.
