This Ain’t Love

You’ve got this, Izzy!

Only two more months to go!

A smile stretches across my face and I press my hand to my belly. Sometimes, I truly can’t believe that this is my life now and there is a part of me that knows I didn’t fully accept it all until I told Diego the truth. In the past two weeks, I’ve felt a feeling of contentment I’ve never experienced before, despite the imminent threat to my life, courtesy of Luca. When I think back on the way I was living my life before the little invader made his presence known, I can’t even say that I miss it. Would I love to go out with my girls and dance half the night away? Hell yeah, I would. But do I have any desire to go back to combing through dating sites and dealing with awful dates just to leave some guy’s apartment unsatisfied and pissed off? Nope. Not one bit and to be fair, they weren’t all like that but enough were that I think I was becoming a little bitter about the whole thing.

One thing is that none of them, not a single fucking one, could make me come like Diego does each and every day… multiple times a day. In fact, it’s herculean the way he can command my body, authority in his every action that I never expected to find so damn sexy and yet, it consumes me. His touch lights a fire inside me unlike any I’ve ever felt before and only he knows how to douse it. He works me up and carries me to the top of the cliff before demanding orgasm after orgasm out of me, not stopping until my body is shaking and I’m near tears.

It’s glorious.

But there is also this side to him that is the complete opposite, like two sides of a coin – caring for me in a way that no other man ever has. Not even once. Each night, after we’re both spent, he pulls me into his arms and makes me feel so goddamn safe that I can’t help but drop my guard in those moments. Which is a good thing, I suppose. Diego and I will be forced to be around each other for the next eighteen years so it helps that he is the kind of man I’m proud to call the father of my son. There is no doubt in my mind that he would stop at nothing to keep the two of us safe and it makes it easier to sleep at night.

My phone pings in my hand and I glance down, rolling my eyes when I see the text from Ali. Ever since the get-together at the clubhouse four days ago when Diego pulled me into his lap in front of everyone, she has been bugging me non-stop about what is going on between the two of us. I haven’t told her anything, though, and it’s making her crazy. My phone pings again.

Ali:

Just tell me.

Ali:

I saw the way he was looking at you, Iz!

I know something is going on.

Shaking my head, I grin as I close out of her messages without replying and set my phone down on the table. I know she’s dying for answers but she won’t like anything I have to say. Diego and I are hooking up and I’m sure she’d salivate over that information if I decided to share it with her but I also know she wouldn’t understand the relationship he and I have. Ali has never been the kind of girl who could do casual sex and when she met Logan, she fell hard and fast so I know she would assume there is something more here. My gaze drifts to Diego, sitting on the couch and watching the baseball game on TV. His tattoos peek out from his t-shirt on every side and I remember the way his inked hands looked dragging across my belly last night, biting back a moan. Almost like he can feel me watching him, he glances up and raises a brow. God, he’s so damn sexy. His brown eyes melt me with just a look and I can’t help but think of the way he pressed my face into the wall of the shower this morning and screwed my brains out.

“Something I can help you with, Mama?”

My grin widens. “Nope.”

“Your mouth says no but your eyes say yes.”

I shift in my seat as butterflies flap around in my belly and my body begins to hum with need. “Hmm, that does sound confusing. What are you going to do?”

“Careful,” he warns, his voice growing deeper as his eyes heat, dragging down to my lips.

Oh, yes!

“You know that’s not my style,” I whisper, flashing him a look that I know drives him crazy as my pussy clenches at the thought of him marching over here and throwing me over his shoulder.

“Isabelle.”

I stand from my chair and tilt my head to the side as I slowly start walking toward him, teasing him. “Why do you always say my name like a curse word?”

“Because it usually is,” he scoffs, never once taking his molten eyes off of me. Reaching down, I toy with the bottom of the sweater he let me borrow earlier as I take deliberate steps to close the distance between us. He shifts his hips and I can see his cock pressing against the front of his jeans.

“I don’t like it.”

He arches a brow again. “Don’t you? Again, your eyes say different.”

“Don’t listen to my eyes,” I whisper, shaking my head as I stop in the middle of the living room and pull the sweater over my head. “They aren’t very honest.”

“Actually, they might be the most honest part of you,” he retorts, his voice full of gravel. As he licks his lips, he runs his hand down the length of his thigh, watching me closely as I begin to walk forward again in my shorts and tank top.

“And what are they saying now?”

He flashes me the most devilish grin I’ve ever seen in my life. “That you need me to make you scream.”

I can’t stop the moan that rips free from my throat and his smile grows as he crooks his finger, demanding with just a look that I stop this little tease and join him on the couch. Where would the fun be in that though?
