Chapter Fourteen
Then
Ryan: Where R U?
I sigh and quickly type back that I’m at the mall with the girls. It drives me crazy that he constantly checks up on me like this. Shaking my head, I shove my phone back into my pocket.
“What’s up?” Addy asks, looking concerned.
“Nothing. Just Ryan checking up on me.” As soon as the words leave my mouth, I wonder if I should have said anything. I know Ryan doesn’t want me talking about him to people but I didn’t say anything bad, did I?
“Em, I wanted to talk to you about something,” Daisy says from my other side.
“What?” Things are still kind of awkward between Daisy and me. We haven’t talked about what happened when she told my brother about Ryan and me. It seems like we both are avoiding it.
“I need to apologize for talking to your brother. You were right. I am your friend first, and I shouldn’t have said anything.”
Well, I guess we’re not avoiding it anymore.
“It’s fine, Daisy. I honestly got over it a long time ago.”
She lets out a huge breath and wraps me up in a hug, stopping right in the middle of the mall.
“I’m so glad! I missed you!” she exclaims and I giggle.
“I missed you, too.”
She releases me and we start walking again. “So, how are things going with Ryan?” Addy asks and I shrug.
“Good.”
“That’s all I get?”
I briefly consider telling her more but if Ryan ever found out, I know that he would be pissed. How is he ever going to find out though?
“I don’t know. All couples fight, ya know?” I finally say, deciding that it’s safe to talk to them.
“What are you fighting about?” Daisy asks.
I scoff and shake my head. What don’t we fight about? “Everything…anything.”
“Like what?” Addy probes.
“Oh, he just hates when I talk to you guys about us and he calls me a drama queen.”
“You are not a drama queen. Out of the three of us, you are the least dramatic, by far,” Addy points out and I laugh.
“Yeah, I know.”
“Is that all?” Daisy asks.
“Um…no, he makes fun of me a lot but when I tell him I don’t like it, he says I’m too sensitive and I need to lighten up.”
“Tell him to knock that shit off. That’s rude,” Addy rants and I smile.
“Yeah, I’ll do that,” I joke and nudge Addilyn. “Let’s go eat. I’m starving.” They both agree and we head off to find some food.
