Hidden Scars

“Already done, sis.”

I growl at him to really play it up and he shrugs again. I can’t say I blame him. My dress is risqué…to say the least. It’s a purple V-neck dress with lace cutouts all the way down the side. I can’t even wear panties with it. If Tucker isn’t too preoccupied with Daisy, he’s going to have a coronary.

“Put this on,” Trey barks at me from behind, holding out a zip-up hoodie.

“No way, Trey.”

“I swear to God, Em. Put the sweater on. Every asshole in here is staring at the side of your boob!”

“That’s kind of the point, dear brother.”

“I’ll call Dad,” he threatens and I gape at him. Texting Tucker is one thing but we both know Daddy would haul my ass out of here over his shoulder without a second thought.

“Jerk!” I snatch the sweater out of his grasp and pull it on. I expect to hear a retort out of him but when I look over, he’s staring at Addilyn. She decided to wear my favorite little black dress and it looks amazing on her. Her strawberry blonde hair is pin straight, falling to the top of her shoulders, and her hazel eyes are rimmed with thick liner and false lashes.

Well…isn’t that interesting.

“Emma!” Tucker calls from behind me and I spin around. Holy crap! He got here really quickly. His eyes are narrowed at something out on the dance floor and I can barely hold back my smile when I turn to see that he’s staring at Daisy.

Bingo!

Jealousy flashes through his eyes as he watches Joel put his hands all over her. He is clenching and unclenching his fists, looking ready to burst. Daisy catches my eye and I motion her over to us. She grabs Joel’s hand and I swear my brother is going to explode.

“Hey, Trey. Hey, Tucker,” she says, completely out of breath.

“Keep the sweater on, Emma,” Tucker growls before turning and stomping out the door.

“What am I missing here?” Trey asks. The three of us dissolve into giggles with Trey watching us warily.

I laugh, patting his cheek. “Oh, nothing, dear brother.”

“Whatever,” he grumbles, going back behind the bar and I turn to the girls.

“What do you say we get out of here?”

They all quickly agree and we head back out to the car to find a place to dance where my annoying brothers won’t show up. As soon as we are driving away from the bar, I ditch the sweater and Addy turns up the music. We dance in our seats as we drive to the other side of town to a newer club. After getting through the line, we go to the bar and order drinks before finding a table along the wall.

“So, your plan didn’t work,” Daisy grumbles.

“Actually, I think it did.”

“I agree. Did you see his face?” Addy asks and I giggle.

“Oh, yeah. He was about to have a stroke. It’s obvious he has feelings for you; now he just needs to pull his head out of his ass.”

“Yeah, we’ll see,” she complains. Just as I’m about to respond, my phone rings. I pull it out and grin. Ryan’s name illuminates the screen. I tell the girls I’ll be right back and run outside to answer the call.

“Hello?” I say into the phone, completely out of breath.

“Hey, baby. Where are you?”

“Uh…I’m out with my friends.”

“I thought you were working tonight.”

“Well, I was but my girls showed up at the bar and practically kidnapped me.”

“Oh, ok,” he sighs, sounding sad.
