“Yeah, I’m good. Don’t worry about me.”
Two days after finding out about our little bundles of joy, the nausea set in and I’ve been puking my guts out ever since. Nix was practically frantic at first, wanting to rush me to the doctor to make sure the babies were okay. I made him call Mama, who assured him that it was perfectly normal, especially with two little ones on board.
“Oh my God! What is that smell?” I exclaim when the scent of something delicious drifts past my sensitive nose. All three of the guys turn to me and sniff at the air.
“Smells like barbecue,” Trey says and my stomach growls loudly.
Nix laughs and crouches down in front of me. “You hungry, baby?”
“Mmhmm.” I nod my head and he laughs again.
“Would you like me to go get you some food?”
“Yes, please!”
“I’m on it. You want barbecue?”
“Oh my God, yes! And pickles!” He chuckles again and my brothers join in.
“Anything else, princess?” Tucker asks, still laughing.
“Not right now but if I think of anything, I’ll be sure to make you go get it,” I growl, narrowing my eyes at him.
“Shit, she’s scary when she’s pregnant,” Trey says and Tucker bobs his head in agreement.
“I love you, baby. I’ll be right back,” Nix interrupts, grabbing his keys from his pocket.
“Thanks, baby. I love you, too.”
As soon as his truck is out of sight, Trey and Tucker sit down on either side of me. “How you doin’, baby girl?” Trey asks.
“I’m really good, Trey.”
“Yeah. You seem good.”
“We just want to make sure you’re one-hundred percent sure about this guy before you go moving in with him and stuff,” Tucker adds.
I turn to him and cock my head to the side. “I know it probably seems soon but it’s different with Nix.”
“You’re different with him,” Trey observes.
“Good different or bad different?”
“Definitely good different. You seem almost like your old self,” Tucker answers.
“I don’t think I’ll ever be totally back to that girl again and I am getting better everyday. I haven’t had a bad dream about Ryan in a long time and I’m feeling stronger.”
“That’s good, sis,” they both say.
“You guys like Nix, right?”
“Oh, hell yeah, he’s like way, way better than that other asshole,” Tucker exclaims and I laugh.
“Yeah, he is.”
“We definitely approve, Em,” Trey adds.
“Thank you. You guys are always here for me.”
