“I want you,” I whine. He sighs and rolls to his back before cracking one eye open and squinting up at me. In the past week or so, it’s become very apparent that Lucas is not a morning person but he just looks so damn cute when he’s sleepy that I can’t stop myself from waking him up.
“I never thought I would complain about my girlfriend wanting too much sex.”
I fight back a smile as I lean in and kiss him. “Say that again.”
“What? That you want too much sex?” he asks and I giggle, shaking my head.
“No, the other part.”
His large arms wrap around me and he pulls me closer, opening both eyes as he flashes me a teasing smile. “The girlfriend part?”
“Yeah,” I breathe with a nod, my heart on the verge of bursting as the word settles inside me.
“It feels kind of lame, doesn’t it?”
“What does?”
He brushes my hair out of my face. “The word girlfriend, like we’re a couple of teenagers.”
“What would you call me then?”
“Hmm,” he hums, studying me. “I don’t know. Since I haven’t asked you to marry me yet, I can’t call you my fiancée…”
“Y…Yet?” I stutter, looking down at him with wide eyes and he nods.
“No more holding back, right?”
I nod.
“Then you’ve got to know I’m completely and totally in love with you, Quinn Dawson, and someday, I’m going to make you my wife.”
I shake my head as my mouth drops open. “I don’t… How can you…”
“A while back you asked me what I wanted out of my life and then the other night Brooklyn fell asleep on my chest and you were passed out next to me and looking down at the two of you, I realized that I already had everything. Nothing else matters as long as I get to spend my life with you.”
Tears well up in my eyes as I stare at him, my heart racing. “You mean that?”
“Baby, you know I don’t…”
“Say things you don’t mean,” I finish for him as a tear rolls down my cheek. He brushes it away as his brows furrow.
“Why are you crying?”
“Because I’m the luckiest girl in the whole damn world. And because I never dreamed I would find this, find you, and now that I have, I feel like my heart just can’t hold this much happiness. I love you, too.”
He grins and pulls me into a tornado of a kiss that only reaffirms everything we just said to each other and when he finally pulls back, we’re both gasping for air.
“Come take a shower with me,” he commands and I nod, the thought of watching water slide down his muscular body almost driving me out of my mind with need.
“I hope you’re gearing up for another round.”
He shakes his head. “Jesus, woman. You really are insatiable and I’m going to need nourishment if you expect me to go again after the five times we did it last night.”
“You know,” I call, watching him as he flings the covers off his naked body and climbs out of bed. “Some men only get sex on their birthdays.”
When he reaches back for me, I grab his hand and let him pull me to my knees before he drags me over to the edge of the bed and wraps his arms around my waist. “How unfortunate for them. Thank God, I’ve got a girlfriend who’s an undercover freak.”
I scrunch up my nose. “You’re right. I don’t like that word. We should come up with something else.”
