“You probably don’t know anything about the second set of books he has either, do you?”

Uncertainty flickered in his eyes, but he kept his mouth shut.

“Okay. You don’t want to answer any questions. Got it.” I wouldn’t waste time with him. “You know anything about Ivy’s mom, Magnolia?”

His jaw clenched but he shook his head. “Only that she disappeared one night.”

There was that fucking word again. “Okay, one more question. Your orders were to hurt Ivy or kill her?”

He shrugged and a slow smile spread across his face. “Rex didn’t care, just wanted us to make sure she understood her role.”

“Bad news,” I told him. “She’s the one who told me exactly who it was.”

He shrugged again, looking completely unbothered. “Guess Rex didn’t beat her into submission good enough.” He smirked, almost fucking delighted in the shit Rex did to his daughter.

Fury clouded my vision for just a second. “Guess not,” I agreed, raised my gun and pressed it to his forehead before pulling the trigger two times.

The club whore screamed, covering her ears too late. “Don’t kill me,” she screamed.

Rook pinched the bridge of his nose, frustrated that he was the one left to deal with a hysterical woman. “If I was gonna kill you, I’d have done it already,” he told her as he helped her to her feet. “Don’t look.” He gripped her shoulders until she stopped crying. “Get the fuck outta here.”

She nodded too quickly, scanning the room but trying to avoid looking at Samson. “Is Ivy all right?” she asked through her tears.

“Safer than she’s ever been,” I answered clearly.

“Good. She’s a sweet girl who got a raw deal.” She spotted her purse and crept slowly past me to get it. With the purse in her hands, she stood and looked right at me. “I don’t got anything but suspicions,” she began, glancing over her shoulder at Samson’s exploded head. “But a PI came around asking questions about her a few years back. Spooked Rex real good. His name was something weird, Skinner. Yeah, that’s right because I thought he said Skynyrd like the band ya know?” She shook her head. “Good luck.”

She walked ahead of us, and we watched her strut down the street without once looking back, before we made our way to our bikes and headed back to the clubhouse.

I felt lighter. People who say revenge doesn’t do anything are full of shit. I felt better as my bike ate up the road and my thoughts on Ivy. She could rest easier now, knowing those assholes were dead. And me? I felt nothing for ending those two lives, nothing but satisfaction that they got what they deserved.

Rex is next.

Switch was waiting for us when we got back with a smug as fuck look of satisfaction on his face.

“What’s that look for?” I stood in front of him and waited with as much patience as I could.

“I managed to access Rex’s trust fund account.”

My brows shot up. “No shit.”

He nodded, smile even wider now. “Yeah, no shit.” Switch tapped his keyboard and the screen flickered back to life. “I got in and got almost everything in it.”

Damn, that was good news. “Almost?”

He shrugged. “I left the fucker with just one dollar.”

Rook laughed so hard his shoulders shook. “That’s savage, brother. I fuckin’ love it.”

A grin teased my lips. “Hell yeah. I’d love to see his face when he realizes it.” The humor faded as my mind immediately went to what came next. “We’ll have to increase security around the whole fucking town. He’s gonna go scorched earth.”

Rook’s laughter died. “And he doesn’t even know about Samson and Vulture yet.”

“Yeah.” I let out a long breath. “Shit’s about to get crazy around here.” Crazy meant more time patrolling the streets and watching the MC businesses, which was in my future when all I wanted was to crawl in bed with my wife.

As soon as I opened the door, Ivy was on her feet, crossing the room before I even stepped inside. Worry was written all over her face, clear as day, shimmering in her eyes as soon as she took in the sight of me.
