A Very Irish Scandal

Addy led the charge toward the bar, meeting the bartender’s eye as she approached. He barely glanced at the photo. “I remember him all right. Memorable night. He was sitting right here chatting up some woman, buying her expensive drinks, pure showing off. Then this stunning blonde walks in. Every lad in the place turns to stare. He just ditches his date and goes straight for her. I felt bad for the woman. He ended up leaving with the blonde.”

“Did you catch her name?” asked Oliver.

“Found out later who she was. Lisa Green. The new COO of Trevi.”

Trevi, founded in Dublin, was fast becoming one of the world’s top ten tech giants. Its new American COO was the perfect mark.

Chapter 50

Addison’s hired PI finally came through—he got them Lisa’s address within the half hour. She lived on Ailesbury Road, one of the most expensive streets in Dublin.

Addison texted the update to Roman and Mandy as she and Oliver hopped into their cab. The others took a separate taxi. Caravan-style, they drove down the tree-lined street, mansions peeking over brick walls and thick hedges.

After everything her brother had done, he’d landed in the lap of luxury. Meanwhile, the people looking for him were desperate. Daisy was despondent. Caity had nearly lost the chance to marry the love of her life for fear of bigamy. Oliver had spent months living in darkness. And Netta cried herself to sleep every night.

Addy expected Oliver to grumble, but instead he remained silent, sitting as far away from her as the back seat allowed, baseball cap in his lap. She could practically hear the thoughts ticking away in his head.

He must have caught her staring. When he turned, the sun caught the scar tissue around his face. “You see now that Yarrow is a lost cause? There’s no redemption for him. He’s too far gone. Prison is too good for him.”

“We don’t know if this is where he is—”

“Fuck, Addy. You’re still protecting him!”

“I’m not. We don’t even know if he’s here. We can’t jump to conclusions.”

“Yes, we fucking can. Where else would he be? He’s living with her, spending her money, using whatever these mansions have to offer. That’s why no one’s seen him. He hit the jackpot.” He turned to the driver. “Stop the cab.”

He wasn’t serious.

But the driver didn’t hesitate, pulling over on the side of the road.

“I need some air.” Oliver slammed the door behind him, walking in the opposite direction.

The driver twisted around to face her. “Should I keep going?”

Addison felt hot and cold all over. Oliver wasn’t wrong. She couldn’t be Kyle’s safety blanket as he continued his path of destruction. And yet his anger, his resentment—it was all too similar to the fights she had with JB. Oliver would never see her as separate from Kyle.

Through the window, Addison watched Oliver walk away.

Walk away like JB had. Like any normal person would.

Well, she wasn’t about to run after him and beg. She had a brother to find and hold accountable.

“Yes,” she told the cab driver. “Keep going.”

When Addison reached Lisa’s mansion a few minutes later, the women were already waiting for her. Brick walls, clean lines, tall trees—the kind of place where Kyle could hide out a while. The wrought-iron fence was short but locked solid.

Caroline stared at the intercom. “Do we call? Someone must see us on the security cameras.”

And there were quite a few of those, all pointed at them.

“If she’s at home, then she knows we are here,” said Plum. “If Kyle’s around, so does he.”

Addison waved at the cameras. “Then let them open the damn doors.”

The gates remained closed. Damn.

Just as Plum hit the call button, Oliver fell in beside them, silently hovering at the edge of the group.
