ONE YEAR LATER

Dad Company (But Sometimes Good Advice)

Eddie Pierce: Just found out I have a kid I didn’t know about. He’s wild and hates me. What do I do???

Comments:

Robert Colt: @Gabriel Sinclair has this. He went from babysitter to dad of the year.

Dean Briggs: And now, he’s my friend

Ryan Kim: The bromance is epic.

Gabriel Sinclair: Buckle up, buttercup. It’s a long ride. I have detailed advice I can give you, but start with just being there. He might be angry and hate you, but if you’re steadily there, it WILL get better. Feel free to DM me. I’m an open book.

There was loud pounding on the door.

“Fuck, is someone trying to buy something again?” I muttered. People did want to build here, and since I owned a lot of the land and buildings, they came to me. Some even came to me in person.

Strawberry Springs became a pinnacle of small-town life, and many people wanted to move here. Developers eyed the empty land, either for commercial use or to build a lot of houses.

At first, Jade had been resistant to the idea of building anything, but as time went on, we had multiple discussions on how to expand the right way. We wouldn’t take from Strawberry Springs. We wouldn’t ruin what was already here. We had to go slow and do it right.

I sighed and closed the coding program. I’d been deep in developing another game. In fact, it took all my time when I wasn’t working with Jade or watching the girls. Them being in school meant I could get a lot done during the day.

I just had to not get kidnapped first.

Standing, I stretched for a moment before going to the door.

“Gabriel Sinclair, you’re coming with us.”

I recognized that voice. It could have been none other than Kerry.

“Uh, why?” I asked.

“Just follow us.”

“Uh, I have to—”

I was grabbed. Before I could do anything, I was taken to a car.

“Mark? Since when are you strong?”

“Had to get you before you fought us.” He laughed and shut the door.

We were off in a moment.

The car ride was silent, and we pulled in next to another car.

Jade got out of it. Behind her was Agnes and Beatrice, who definitely should have been in school.

“What are you two doing here?”
