“So, you played the same part over and over again?”

I huffed. “Yes. I didn’t think you’d ever mean for the player to come back. Looks like I was wrong.” My voice was quiet and I couldn’t meet his eyes. I’d spent so many years assuming what he was thinking. How much time had I wasted?

“I could’ve let the character stay too.” He admitted it softly.

“We could’ve done a lot differently, huh?”

“Yeah. We could’ve.”

“I’ll start now.” I took a breath. “Wanna help me get my character to the city?”

Gabriel slowly smiled. “I would love nothing more.”

“To be clear, I’m coming back.”

“You should. That’s when the game gets really good.”

Gabriel and I spent most of the day together. I did get my character to the big city, but I found it so frustrating that I had to take multiple breaks. He didn’t seem to mind, as long as I didn’t take out my frustration on him.

Some moments felt like walking on eggshells, but as we figured out how each other worked, it got easier as the day went on.

It went so well that I offered to go get Agnes and Beatrice with him. When we returned, I hung out with the girls while he made dinner.

Things felt so peaceful and so right. It would kill me when this ended.

Night fell and it took both of us to get the two kids to bed. Even though I hadn’t done much today, I was exhausted.

“So, I might sleepwalk tonight,” I said.

“You might?”

“As fun as pissing off Kevin is, it is a little stressful. Mind watching me?”

“I think I can make that happen,” he said. “Only if you ask nicely, though.”

“Never mind. I’ll leave.” I made my way toward the door. Gabriel grabbed me before I could.

“You win. Please stay.”

“I love it when a man begs.” I let him pull me to him.

“Is that the secret? Begging you?”

“Some days. It’s working today.”

He gave me one kiss before pulling away. “What else can I beg for?”

“You could beg to give me an orgasm.” I said it under my breath.

“Do you have the energy for that? You’re exhausted.”

I rolled my eyes. “I only yawned twice.”

“Three times.”

“Don’t count.” I huffed. “I am tired, but I do have energy for some things.”

Our moments felt few and far between. We wanted to be together, but with everything going on with the town and the girls, it didn’t happen as often as we liked. If I wanted things to go my way tonight, we would need to make use of what time we had.
