“We shouldn’t,” he murmured into my lips.

He probably had a million reasons at the tip of his tongue. His hands were already on my shoulders, and I had no doubts that he was about to tell me all of them.

But I spoke first. “One time. One time we give in to it all.”

“How is that going to change anything?”

“It’ll get it out of our systems?” It came out as a question, and he raised an eyebrow. I rushed to continue. “Gabriel, nothing has ever compared to what we had. Please let me experience it again. Just once.”

He let out a shaky breath. “Jade, it’s such a bad idea.”

“It is, but I need it. I need you.”

He groaned. “But—”

“I know what I’m getting into. I know you’re leaving, and I won’t try to stop you. But please forget about it for just a moment.”

He stared at me and I did my best to meet his gaze, despite my heart pounding in my chest. He could say no, and I’d walk away. It might break me, but I was sure that I’d eventually see logic.

But I didn’t want logic right now. I wanted him.

“Okay.” His voice was low. “One time.”

He pulled me in for another kiss, and I knew I wouldn’t waste time.

I scrambled to get his shirt off, determined to see his chest again. He mostly looked the same, but he was wider and more defined.

“Pretty good looking for a nerdy game designer,” I said with a laugh.

“I haven’t worked on a game in a long time. Can I even be called that?”

“Your game is still selling copies, so yes. And take the compliment, Gabriel.”

“Fine. Thank you. I used to work out. Now I’m staying in shape by chasing kids around.”

“It did you well.” I dragged my hands over his chest while he worked to get my shirt off. I would swear I didn’t plan it, but I had on a lacy bra that made him groan when he saw it.

“Did you wear this on purpose?” I only shrugged and he let out a shudder. “I’ll pay you back for that.”

I shamelessly ground against him as he kissed me. His body tightened and he pulled away.

I grinned. “Since it’s been a long time . . .”

“Shut up. I’m not letting this end early,” he said. My eyes narrowed and he shook his head. “Don’t even think about it.”

“I don’t like doing what I’m told.”

His hand, far larger than mine, wrapped around my wrists and pinned me against one of the shelves. His hips fully boxed me in.

My heart gave a jolt. If this were anyone else, I would try to kill them.

But this was Gabriel. I trusted him.

And now I found it incredibly hot.

“Not this time. Do what I say.”

“You’ll have to make me.”
