“Mr. Conti, I really would recommend—”
“Blair will show me the properties.”
The room falls quiet.
Randall looks at me for a long second, finally understanding that I am not asking for his advice, nor is it wanted.
I continue before he can try another angle. “You can have whatever listings you think are appropriate sent to her. She can decide what is worth seeing, and she’ll take me through them tomorrow.”
He recovers quickly, smoothing his expression back into something agreeable. “If that’s what you prefer.”
“It is.”
“Then of course we can arrange it.”
I glance at my watch. “I’ll make the time tomorrow.”
“Any particular hour you’d like to start?”
“Have Blair contact me.”
Randall’s jaw tightens before he covers it with another smile. “Certainly.”
I stand, buttoning my jacket as he pushes back from his desk.
He rises as well. “I can walk you out.”
“No need.”
He looks as though he wants to argue with that too, but apparently decides he has finally reached his limit for losing arguments in one meeting.
I leave his office without another word.
The main floor is busier than it was when I came in, but I find her immediately.
Blair is sitting at her desk with one hand on her keyboard and the other holding a phone to her ear. She is listening to whoever is speaking, her green eyes focused on her monitor, black hair framing her face just above her shoulders. Even seated, she has the same composed confidence I noticed when I walked in.
Then she glances up.
Her eyes meet mine.
Recognition flashes across her face.
I slow just enough to make sure she knows the look is intentional and send her a wink.
Her brows lift.
I keep walking.
Tomorrow just became considerably more interesting.
Chapter Four
Blair
Randall’s door opens less than five minutes after Diego Conti leaves.
“Blair,” he practically barks.
