Next, we see Wren falling to the floor after being drugged, then picked up and dumped into the back seat of a black van.

“Sloane?”

“On it,” she said, typing the plate numbers from the screen. “I'm not sure this will be useful, but I'll look anyway.”

While she did that, I stood and beckoned for Viper to follow me. He was the only one who knew I had men keeping track of him. Some of the men I'd had to pull from the job for something urgent.

“What do you have for me?” I asked Viper.

“The men are working out a location, but we should get it in the next twenty minutes.”

I nodded, pacing the hallway. My fist was clenched at my sides, and I was dying to punch something. Every second wasted was a missed opportunity to rescue her from that bastard.

“Knox, you have to calm down.”

“Don't fucking tell me to calm down!” I yelled, losing it. “I'll calm down when she's safe and with me.”

He took a step back, holding up his hands. “Okay, okay.”

Sloane appeared at the doorway, looking between both of us for a second before deciding to approach me anyway. “I found the plates. They're fake. I did try to track the van through the streets using the security camera, but they ducked into an alley, and I lost them.”

I nodded. I expected they would be anyway. But it wasn't enough for me. When my phone buzzed with a notification, I damn near threw it against the wall.

My spies had come through with a location. Now, I had to go get her. I slipped my phone into my pocket, already looking toward the door and cooking up a plan.

“What do you need me to do?” Viper asked, easing off the wall.

“You're coming with me,” I said, going back into the room to address my men. “I have her location now. I'm going to get her. Sloane, you'll stay on standby. I'm going to need your help.”

“Noted, boss.”

“And the rest of us?” Mason asked.

“We remind Derek Cole why people are afraid of the Sons.”

Because he'd made a mistake and it was going to cost him. He thought taking Wren away removed my advantage.

He forgot something.

The reason I was dangerous was never that I had nothing to lose. It was because I finally did.

Chapter Fourteen

Wren

The first thing I noticed was the cold.

It wasn't biting or chilly from the usual rain or winter air, but I would be lying if I said I wasn't shivering. It seeped into my bones until my teeth chattered, and I was silently begging for some comfort.

My wrists hurt too. That was the first thing my mind registered when I woke up. The second was the pounding headache. The third was the cloth covering my face and how I couldn't see anything.

Panic hit me so fast I almost screamed. Almost, because I realized I couldn't scream with the clothes stuffed into my mouth.

The memories rushed in, and my body shook some more. I was going to die. The one time I'd deemed it important to step out of the house without Knox, and I was going to pay heavily for it.

My breathing turned uneven as I pulled against the restraints around my wrists. No. No, no, no. This couldn’t be happening. Not again. I squeezed my eyes shut, trying to think. Trying to focus through the fog in my brain, but the panic was settling deeper into my bones, preventing me from doing much of it.

Still, if there was one thing I was sure of, I knew this environment was unfamiliar. This wasn't Derek’s house. I'd memorized the feel of those rooms, so I would know as soon as I was in it.
