“Funny. Was thinking the same thing about you.”
I step closer.
“Oh, really?”
“You broke into my fucking cabin, lied to my face, and expected me not to ask questions.”
“And you stole my DNA!”
“Didn't steal a damn thing.”
“You had it tested without my permission! What would you call that?”
“A mistake, Madison. One I've already owned.”
“Well, congratulations. Do you want a medal?”
He takes a step toward me.
I refuse to back up.
“You always gotta have the last word?” he demands.
“Only when I'm right.”
“Christ, woman.”
“What?”
“You're driving me fucking crazy.”
“Good. Now you know how I feel!”

Torch glances down at them.
“Planning to rip that off me, wildfire?”
“Don't tempt me.”
His gaze snaps back to mine.
The air between us changes.
Neither of us moves.
Then he mutters, “Fuck it.”
He leans in, stopping just short of my mouth.
I close the distance.
The kiss is anything but gentle.
