I rub my temple and keep reading.
The words blur slightly.
I blink.
They come back into focus.
For about three seconds.
Then the entire page seems to shift.
“What the…”
I grab the edge of the desk.
A sudden wave of dizziness rolls through me.
That's strange.
I haven't had anything to drink besides coffee today.
And while my breakfast consisted of half a bagel and a questionable banana, I've survived on considerably less.
Maybe I need some fresh air.
Heat prickles beneath my clothes.
I unzip my coat, hoping it helps.
Another pulse of pain strikes behind my eyes.
Harder this time.
“Okay. That's enough investigating for today.”
I put the article back and head toward the bedroom door.
My stomach lurches.
Oh, that's not good.
For a horrifying moment, I think I'm going to throw up all over Torch's spotless floor.
I close my eyes and breathe through my nose.
Bad idea.
The dizziness gets worse.
I open them again.
The hallway seems to tilt.
I reach for the doorframe.
Miss.
