“Partly. After everything went wrong with my career, I wasn't much good company. Grim and Striker didn't seem to give a shit.”
I smile faintly.
“Striker does seem difficult to discourage.”
“Understatement of the century.”
“And Grim?”
“Gave me a place to belong when I wasn't looking for one.”
I think about the motorcycles surrounding us on the road.
The way those men responded to Grim without hesitation.

For a moment, I don't move.
I've never slept in a man's arms before. I certainly didn't expect to like it this much, especially considering the man in question is stubborn, bossy, and quite possibly the worst romantic prospect I've ever encountered.
And I match people for a living.
I shift closer, letting my fingers drift across his chest.
His hand moves lazily along my back.
“Can't sleep, sweetheart?”
“Not anymore. You?”
He opens one eye.
“I was doing pretty well until a little wildfire started squirming against me.”
“That's unfortunate.”
“Yeah?”
“Because I'm thinking about kissing you again.”
His other eye opens.
