“Better judgment, apparently.”
His gaze travels over my naked body, lingering long enough to make my skin warm before returning to my face.
“Not planning on getting dressed?”
“Why? Are you expecting company?”
His mouth curves.
“Fuck, sweetheart. You're going to be the death of me.”
“Counting on it.”
He picks up a pillow from the bed.
“Get some sleep.”
I watch him head toward the door.
“Where are you going?”
“Couch.”
I look at the bed.
Then at him.
“You're joking.”
“Nope.”
“Your feet are going to hang over the end.”
“I've slept in worse places.”
That isn't particularly reassuring.
He turns toward the door again.
“Torch?”
He stops.
“Stay.”
The word comes out quieter than I intended.
He looks back.
I pull the blanket over me.
“Please.”
His expression changes.
“Madison, I told you...”
“I'm not asking for sex.”
