His eyes darken.
“Am I?”
I realize what I've said.
Oh.
That's rather more suggestive of future plans than I intended.
Naturally, Torch notices.
“Got plans for me, Madison?”
“Don't flatter yourself.”
“Too late.”
I sigh.
“Your personality is a serious obstacle to your otherwise excellent qualifications.”
He catches my waist.
“Excellent, huh?”
“Don't make me revise my assessment.”
His laughter turns into a kiss.
A considerably less gentle one.
I cling to his shoulders as he draws me closer, his hands moving over my back and settling at my hips.
There's no mistaking his desire, and the knowledge that I can affect him this much is intoxicating.
He kisses me again, and I answer without thinking, learning what makes him draw a sharp breath, what makes his arms tighten around me, and just how thoroughly a kiss can ruin my ability to form sentences.
When his mouth finds my neck again, I decide that words are overrated.
For once.
A little sound escapes me.
Torch pauses.
“You okay?”
“If you ask me that every thirty seconds, we're going to run out of water.”
“Answer the question, smartass.”
I grin.
“Yes. Very okay.”
He smiles and kisses me again.
Unfortunately, the moment I tip my head back, a dull ache reminds me that my body hasn't entirely recovered from this afternoon's adventures.
