“Funny. You were looking pretty impressed a second ago.”
I narrow my eyes.
“Don't make me revise my assessment.”
He laughs.
I put my palms against his chest.
The muscles flex beneath my hands.
Oh, that is entirely unfair.
“Kiss me, Torch.”
His expression changes.
“Come here, sweetheart.”
He draws me against him, one arm around my waist, and kisses me.
My clever remarks vanish.
Temporarily.
His mouth is warm and demanding, and the feel of his body against mine sends heat curling through my stomach.
I wrap my arms around his neck.
He deepens the kiss, his hand moving along my back while the other steadies me at the hip.
When he draws back, I'm breathing considerably harder than the activity should require.
“Still saving water?” he asks.
“Shut up and kiss me again.”
He laughs against my mouth.
Gladly, apparently.
His lips travel to my jaw, then the side of my neck, and I discover something distressing.
I'm apparently very easy to distract.
He kisses a particularly sensitive spot beneath my ear.
My knees threaten to abandon their duties.
“That's cheating,” I whisper.
“What's cheating?”
“Whatever you're doing.”
“Noted.”
He does it again.
