“All of you?” I ask but no one says a word.
Interesting.
I look at Rhett and his smile fades slightly then Ezra… he won’t look away and Malakai… his hand is still against my waist.
“And when you touch me?”
Malakai answers. “It responds.”
“How?”
“The land wakes.”
“That doesn’t explain why I feel like I’m going to combust.”
Rhett mutters, “That’s probably the Revel.”
Ezra turns. “Helpful.”
I look at Rhett. “What exactly is the Revel?”
He studies me. “The part where people stop denying what they want.”
Heat moves across my skin. I hate how much that answer affects me.
I look at Malakai. His gaze is already on my mouth.
My heart kicks.
The floor creaks.
Ezra hears it. “Enough.”
Malakai’s hand leaves my waist and immediately, the pull toward the field returns so hard I double over. “Fuck!”
He catches me and the sensation stops. I straighten slowly. “What the hell?”
Malakai looks at the door then at me. “It wants us outside.”
“Us?” I say with wide eyes.
“Yes.”
Ezra shakes his head. “No.”
“Ezra.” Malakai warns.
“No.”
“The Tiller and the Bride.” He says, and every molecule of air seems to leave the room.
Rhett looks at him. “Oh.”
I put my hand on my hip. “What does oh mean?”
He raises his hands. “Nothing.”
“Stop fucking saying nothing!”
