The jagged harsh burns across his chest shrank before my eyes.

Split muscle pulled together.

Blood reversed its path, sliding over his skin and sinking back into him as if time itself had changed direction.

Within seconds, every injury disappeared.

Only the holes in his pants remained.

I shivered. “Fuck.”

The corner of his mouth lifted. “I’m pretty impressive. You should take the time to get to know me.”

He snapped his fingers. The pants reappeared. Fabric materialized in a ripple.

The clothes are. . .his magic too. Not actual. . .clothes. What the fuck?

His glowing gold-orange gaze traveled over me, taking in my twisted locs, my bare shoulders, the black silk clinging to my breasts, and the cursed heart displayed above my cleavage.

His nostrils flared. The glow in his eyes brightened.

My body responded before I could stop it. Heat poured down my stomach and gathered between my legs, rubbing right along my clit.

It took everything in me to keep a soft moan in my throat.

Yoichi lifted his nose and inhaled. “Mmmm. Yes. So close.”

The bastard smiled. “You are gorgeous. I saw that the moment you came up to me, but your scent, your magic, your funny little responses. . .I am pleased.”

My heartbeat stumbled.

Nope. Not doing this. He is not about to compliment me into unlocking my own circle.

I raised the gun higher. “Okay. So. . .you made it through my defenses, but this gun is loaded—”

“With something nasty. You put cursed blood on the bullets. A shifter of some sort.” He sniffed. “A dirty shifter.”

“Werewolf.”

“Exactly. A little dirty American shifter.”

“Wow.”

“When you were healing me, did you see how many tails I had?”

“Eight.”

“A hundred years for every tail.”

“Yeah. You’re eight hundred years old. I got it.”

“And you think a creature’s blood that was created several hundred years after my birth can harm me?”

I swallowed. “I was hoping so.”

“When I get my ninth tail. . .I’ll basically be a god.”

“Well, good for you.”
