Run, Omega, Run

Tears spilled down her cheeks. My grip on the chain tightened until the links bit into my palm. I wanted to open him from throat to severed cock and watch him choke on his blood.

“But why?” she whispered.

“Because I always get what I want. Omegas are all the same. You say no until you’re beneath me.”

“You’re sick,” she gasped.

She wrapped her arms around herself, and I watched her shrink. He’d made her believe she was powerless. After today, she’d know better.

I walked to my desk and picked up my knife. She was watching me now.

The look in her eyes had changed. She didn’t stare at me like I was a monster. She’d said I was no better than him. She was about to find out how wrong she was.

“W-wait,” Rhett stuttered. “Wait, wait!”

He wasn’t laughing now.

“This is your chance to take it back,” I said.

“Take what back?” she whispered.

“Your control. The power he stole.” I held the blade out to her, handle first. “Everything he took.”

Her chin dipped. Her eyes fixed on the blade as Rhett scrambled backward, chain rattling, stumps sliding against the floor as he tried to get away.

Her delicate fingers wrapped around the handle of my knife.

I bit back a groan.

I let go of my favorite blade and smiled behind the mask as she turned to face him.

My little lamb was done being prey.

Chapter 9

Ru

I wouldn’t say I was a violent person. Hell, I liked to think I was a good one. Murder had never made my to-do list.

When I was little, my mom hit a rabbit on the road. She hadn’t seen it—I did, and I screamed until she pulled over, climbed out, and scooped the poor thing off the asphalt. I spent the next hour crying as she dug it a grave with my beach shovel. Every life mattered. Even the rabbit’s.

One second, I was holding Ghost’s knife. The next, I was on my knees in front of Rhett.

My Omega went quiet. Not afraid. Focused. For the first time since I’d woken up in that nest, the fog in my head cleared, and everything was locked on him.

Rhett laughed as he looked down his nose at me. “You going to use that on me, Ru?”

For a man with no hands and no cock, he was awfully cocky. There was a growl behind me, but I could barely hear it over the pounding in my ears. My arm moved on its own.

The sound was something I’d never heard before. A wet give as I buried the steel in his chest. A squelch. Then warmth, rushing over my fingers.

He stared down at the handle like he could make it disappear.

I yanked it free.

I hadn’t planned to use it. But as I looked away from his chest and into his wide, shocked eye, relief washed over me so fast it made me lightheaded.

Then a rush. Something lit up inside me. I felt powerful. Like I’d taken back a piece of myself.
