His hand slides higher.
I suck in a breath. “That is worse.”
“Evan’s watching.”
I glance across the room. Sure enough, Evan is looking at us from beside Sienna.
Ryder leans closer. “Rule six says I have to be convincing.”
“Rule three says no thigh.”
“Conflicting legislation.”
“You’re impossible.”
“You bought me.”
“For charity.”
“Keep telling yourself that, sweetheart.”
He kisses my temple and my stomach flips. That’s the truly irritating part. Ryder doesn’t just look like my boyfriend. He acts like one.
His arm stays around my chair. He brings me a drink without asking because he remembers what I ordered earlier. When I mention I’m cold, his jacket appears around my shoulders.
And every time Evan looks over, Ryder touches me.
My waist.
My back.
My hand.
Nothing outrageous.
Everything effective.
Including on me.
Someone at our table asks how long we’ve been together.
I nearly choke.
Ryder doesn’t hesitate. “Three months.”
I turn to him. “Three?”
He smiles. “Best three months of my life, baby.”
The table laughs. I kick him.
His hand catches my knee beneath the table.
“Behave.” He warns.
“You behave.” I shoot back.
“I’m not the one kicking my boyfriend.”
