“How many rules are there?”
“A lot.”
I grin. “Can’t wait.”
She rolls her eyes but she’s smiling.

Helping my sister’s friend.
That’s what I’ll call it.
But even I know it’s bullshit.
Chapter 3
Clara
There are seven rules for fake dating Ryder Hale.
By rule four, he’s laughing at me.
“This isn’t funny.”
“It’s a little funny.”
Ryder sits across from me at my kitchen table, drinking my coffee like he belongs here.
He does not.
He especially doesn’t belong here looking like that.
Black T-shirt. Tattoos. Messy dark hair. Motorcycle boots stretched beneath my table.
I glance at my notebook. “Rule one. No kissing unless necessary.”
His eyebrow rises. “Define necessary.”
“If Evan is around.”
“So revenge kissing only.”
“Fake dating kissing.”
“Sounds less fun.”
“It isn’t supposed to be fun.”
“Then you’re doing it wrong.”
I ignore him. “Rule two. We are not sleeping together.”
“Okay.”
I look up.
That’s it? No argument, no joke. Just okay.
