Sienna touches Evan’s arm. “We should get back to our seats.”

“Right.”

Evan looks at Clara one more time. “I was hoping you were doing okay.”

“I am.”

He nods. “Good.”

They walk away.

We wait until they’re out of earshot.

Then Clara shoves my arm off. “Baby?”

I laugh. “You’re welcome.”

“I did not ask you to do that.”

“You told him I’m your boyfriend.”

“I panicked.”

“Then you panic big.”

Lila is grinning. “This is perfect.”

“No,” Clara says.

“Yes.”

“No.”

Lila points toward Evan. “He’s bringing Sienna to the wedding this weekend.”

I look at Clara. “What wedding?”

“Destination wedding at Phantom River.”

Lila’s grin gets wider. “No.”

Clara already knows where this is going.

“I didn’t say anything,” Lila says.

“You were about to.”

“You need a date.”

“I do not need Ryder.”

I put a hand over my heart. “That hurts.”

She ignores me.

Lila shrugs. “Fine. Go alone while Evan spends the weekend with Sienna.”

Clara glares at her, then looks at me. I can practically see the argument happening in her head.
