His expression twists.
“You think this ends with me?”
I pause.
Hypnos laughs bitterly.
“You foolish boy. You were not the only god condemned during the war.”
My grip tightens around Calla’s hand.
“What are you saying?”
“Six others,” he whispers. “Six gods imprisoned in stone.”
I stare at him.
He smiles.
“And when they awaken, the heavens will fall.”
The marble closes over his mouth.
Silence.
Calla looks at me.
“Six more?”
I exhale.
“Apparently.”
She glances toward the imprisoned Hypnos.
“Are they all as charming as you?”
I grin.
“Naturally.”
“Oh, God.”
“Yes, darling?”
She elbows me.
“Don’t start.”
I laugh and pull her into my arms.
The dreamscape begins to dissolve.
New Orleans waits beyond it.
