Enormous marble columns rise around us. Silk curtains billow in the warm breeze. A thousand candles flicker along the edges of a vast, shimmering pool.
And beyond the columns, beneath a sky glittering with impossible stars, stands an enormous bed draped in white silk.
I stare.
“Morpheus.”
He smiles.
“Yes, darling?”
“Are we dreaming?”
“No.”
I look around.
The marble is solid beneath my feet.
The candles give off real warmth.
The sea breeze carries the scent of jasmine.
“You made this real?”
“Naturally.”
I turn toward him.
“You know, most husbands just buy flowers.”
He grins.
“I am not most husbands.”
“No kidding.”
He draws me into his arms.
“Do you like it?”
I look at the palace.
The candles.
The stars.
Then back at my ridiculously handsome husband.
“I love it.”
His expression softens.
“Good.”
I slide my arms around his neck.
“Although I have one question.”
