For the last shot, we kiss with the same magic, excitement, and joy that reminds me of our summer. I press down my shutter button, a click! fluttering out.
A smile fills my face as I gaze at my LCD screen. The photos capture just how happy we are, how much we shine together.
“Love these ... they remind me of my favorite summer,” Jase says into my ear.
“Me too,” I say.
His lips press against mine, and my heart dances as I kiss the boy who embraces every single one of my little details. “Ready to head back inside?”
Before I reply, I glance at the tree sprouting from the planter, the goldenrods popping against the leaves, the sun highlighting their petals and bringing out their pleats.
“One more minute.” My eyes lock my LCD screen in focus.
Jase nods and smiles, sliding his hands into his pockets. “Go for it.”
After I adjust my settings, I focus my lens on me, flashing an all-tooth smile for the camera. I’m a seventeen-year-old Filipina photographer, the youngest daughter, a little sister. I’m also kind, patient, and shy. I’m a smart girl, a badass goody-two-shoes, someone who’s still figuring things out. I see the good in people, I worry a lot, I help others when they need it. I work hard and never give up, putting a million percent into everything. I’m in control. I’m Emilyn.
