The Gargoyle and the Executioner’s Daughter

“Dad,” Ravena says when he does not reciprocate. “Shake his hand.”
He lets out a heavy sigh and then steps forward, shaking my hand with his. He is quite a bit stronger than the usual human male, but I could still easily crush his hand if I chose to. The thought crosses my mind, but I keep it civil. For now.
“You’re in love with my daughter?” he asks, eyeing me closely.
“More than I ever thought possible.”
He sighs and rolls his eyes. “Come on in then. Ravena, put the kettle on. Tharion, watch your wings on the door.”
Ravena turns to me with a ravishing smile as her father stomps into his house.
“What does that mean?” I ask as I watch him disappear inside.
“It means we have some hope,” she says, grabbing my hand, a large beautiful smile on her face. “So don’t screw it up.”
She laughs as she steps on her toes and kisses the bottom of my chin.
“Screw it up?” I ask with a nervous fluttering in my stomach. “How would I screw it up?”
She just giggles as she takes my hand and pulls me inside. “Don’t worry, he’s going to love you.”
I’m not so sure about that.
It hasn’t even been five minutes since he last tried to kill me. For the third time.
But Ravena goes inside so I follow her in. She’s my mate and my life now. I’ll do anything she wants.
No matter how dangerous.
Even if that dangerous thing is meeting my new father-in-law.
I’ll do it for her.
