“Focus, Mitchell. This is for you.”
I cleared my throat. “I am focused.”
“On the video,” she clarified.
“Right,” I pushed off the desk, moving to stand behind her chair so I could see it again. “Play it again.”
As she did, I leaned a little closer to her, bracing one hand on the back of her chair. I could see her stiffen up a little bit as my hand gripped the back of the chair.
“You cut that,” I pointed at the screen when the video looped back.
“What?”
“That part. Where I missed the catch.”
Eliana glances back at me. “Yeah?”
“Why?”
“Because it doesn’t add anything?”
I raised a brow. “Me messing up doesn’t add anything? Isn’t that what the people want to see?”
She shook her head, scrubbing through the video. “This one is for hype. For clean visuals, and getting fans excited about the upcoming season,” she explained. “If I wanted to truly show personality or bloopers, I would do that in a different video.”
I watched her as she spoke, the way her focus sharpened.
“You really think about all of that?”
She gives me a nod. “All of the time.”
She had gotten exactly where she wanted to be. I couldn’t help but feel proud of her.
“You know, you’re good at what you do, El.”
“I wouldn’t say that.”
“Well, I mean it.”
A small pause stretched between us before she looked back at the screen. “Thanks,” she said quietly. “I’m thinking of posting it tomorrow morning.”
I shrug. “Whatever you think will be best.”
She nodded again, keeping her eyes on the computer.
“Are you always this serious and quiet?” I smile at her.
“I’m working, Wyatt,” she replies.
“Duh, I can see that, silly goose.”
“So yes,” she looks at me. “I’m serious when I work.”
I tilt my head at her. “You used to be more fun.”
She scowls at me. “Excuse me?”
“I’m just saying,” I continue, holding a hand up. “You used to be more relaxed.”
