Nun sneered. “Fuck the book. Someone attacked my guys; they pay.”
Wylde put a hand up. “Escape first, and then we figure out who needs to pay.”
“I’ve got a bad feeling about this. We found each other too easily,” I said, considering the implications.
The others turned to look at me. “Maid, we’ve been searching for half an hour. This shit wasn’t easy,” Sapphire exclaimed.
“They placed us in the same block, but on different floors. We have to get out of here. That won’t be simple. Whoever did this planned for it and would have made it hard for us to escape,” I pointed out.
“She’s not wrong,” Hatton said.
“Someone doesn’t want us around. This could be the Bloody Femmes; it could be something entirely different,” Heart added.
“We need to stick together; this isn’t over by a long shot,” Belladonna agreed.
“Okay. Come on. Let’s find the exit,” I said, not wishing to acknowledge I sensed there was more to this.
Chapter Five.
Maid
I stared at the bricked-up doorway. It had taken two hours to locate this because every damn gate was locked. Several of us were missing bras now. Thank God our tits were perky and the men decent enough not to stare.
“This is fresh,” Priest stated.
“There’re other exits?” Lantern asked.
“There has to be,” Warrick complained. “The windows are no good; they’ve all barred.”
“I can punch through,” Sparrow replied, and Sapphire shook her head.
“Let’s check around first. We might need your power later,” she murmured.
At times like this, I wished I had a more offensive ability, but wishing didn’t do shit for anyone.
“Come on, let’s hunt,” I said, my skin crawling. My fingers twitched towards the doorframe. I took a deep breath, sighed and closed my eyes, counting to ten.
“Maid, are you okay?” Wylde asked quietly, and I nodded.
“There is so much DNA in here; it’s making me itch to clean it,” I mumbled. I rotated my shoulders uncomfortably.
“Here.” Feeling something pressed into my hand, I glanced down. Wylde’s handcuffs.
“Oh,” I gasped and felt the DNA. So much was on them. My fingers started rubbing at a spot, and relief swept through me.
“Capt. Cassidy, give me your cuffs,” Wylde called out. They sent him an odd look but handed them over. Wylde placed them in my hands, and I almost sobbed. The DNA!
I grinned at Wylde and began walking, my urges now under control.
“What was that about?” Cassidy whispered.
“Maid just needed to clean something. She’s fine,” Wylde replied. Cassidy nodded and headed back to protect Dagger. I wondered if he knew he was protecting an assassin. That was amusing to me.
Sapphire
“You have to be fuckin’ kidding me!” I howled as we found the final exit, and it had been bricked up too.
“What the fuck is this?” Hatton demanded, equally pissed.
