Belladonna’s Nightmare

Sparrow couldn’t dispute that.

We jumped on our bikes and headed for the motel, but I worried there was no answer. My sisters fanned out behind me as we rode.

The fog approached as we parked outside the hotel.

“What the fuck?” Storm asked, staring at the parking lot. Several cars sat haphazardly, their doors open—two had engines running.

“Okay,” Dagger drawled, drawing her piece. Blade matched her actions, and they took point, checking our route to the office. I noticed some of the rooms had dark, open doorways too and frowned. What the hell was going on?

As we walked towards the office, my frown deepened. The doors were barricaded, and we exchanged concerned looks.

“What the fuck?” Storm muttered as she shifted the furniture away, and we managed to shove the doors open.

“Shit,” Blade exclaimed as we spotted blood splattered on the walls.

“Back here,” Dagger called, and we moved to the manager’s office. There, we found a gruesome sight. If that were our manager, he’d been ripped apart.

“I’m calling Hayden,” I murmured.

“Got another corpse. It’s been gnawed on.” Vengeance sounded sick.

“What did you say?” Blade asked.

“She’s been eaten; she looks like a cleaner,” Vengeance added.

“Oh man…” Storm heaved, and I didn’t blame her.

“Babe?” Hayden’s warm voice answered me.

“Hayden, we’ve got several murders at our east side hotel. Something bad’s gone down here. Our manager has been ripped apart, and a cleaner has been eaten,” I said.

Hayden paused. “Sapphire, last night was great, but—”

“This is real. I wouldn’t fuck with your job like that. Fetch Cassidy, and get out here,” I ordered.

“If this is a joke…”

“No. Get here fast. We might have more victims. Some rooms have open doors. We’re going to check them over. Bring backup,” I directed and cut the call.

I stared at my sister. Shivers ran up my spine.

I reached out to Belladonna and knocked.

“What’s up?” she demanded. I quickly explained before speaking to the others.

“Okay. Stick together in groups. If someone is targeting the club, being alone will make it easier to pick us off. Let’s check out those rooms; don’t touch anything. Belladonna, link us, and connect Sparrow too,” I ordered.

Storm whipped some gloves out of the cleaning cupboard, and we headed out.

“I don’t like this,” Dagger murmured. “It’s too quiet, Sapphire.”

“That’s what was bothering me,” Blade said, sounding relieved. “I couldn’t figure it out.”

Damn, she wasn’t wrong. It was far too silent. No sound, no cars, no birds, no animal noises—nothing. We swapped a worried glance, and I headed for the stairs leading to the second floor. I stepped into the first room, its door open, and paused.

“More splatter,” I whispered to Belladonna, who nodded.

“Sapphire, something is seriously fucked up. I’ve got another body torn apart,” Dagger said, sounding calm.
