I call Danny back.

He answers on the first ring.

“Oh good. You’ve calmed down.”

“No.”

“What?”

“You don’t represent Atlas Falling anymore.”

Silence. Then he laughs.

“Don’t be ridiculous.”

“I’m not.”

“Cal, you cannot fire me on the morning I get you a record deal.”

“I’m finding it surprisingly easy.”

“You are emotional right now.”

“Yeah, I am. I’m also very sure. We’ve made a unanimous decision. You’re off. You no longer represent us. This deal would’ve been the new contract with us, but since none of us have signed it yet, you don’t represent us officially.”

His voice changes.

The lazy, amused tone disappears. What replaces it is the man who sat across from four teenagers and explained why signing quickly was the only way to prove we were serious.

“After everything I’ve done for you. I built this band.” He spits out.
